I installed a holley 70mm TB on my 93 GT and I tried to set the TPS to between .8 and 1.0 but I couldn't get anything but .56. I even tried drilling the holes out bigger and try to turn the sensor but still it was only .56 and that is it. it never changed. What is the problem? BTW it seems to run fine but would it run better with it set correctly? Thanks.

You can read:
http://www.veryuseful.com/mustang/tech/engine/Mustang-TPS-FAQ.html

But, 0.56 is low. Make sure your EEC isn't throwing a "TPS too low" code. Yes, ALL EEC-IVs check and will throw that code (even the SD EEC-IVs).

BTW: In your case, the idle set screw may be set too low. Disconnect the IAB/IAC and get the car to idle around 500-600 rpms. That will move the throttle plate, which moves the TPS. You really want the TPS to be around 0.7-1.0v .

A few other things:

o Make sure you're using the *TPS GROUND WIRE* and not the engine or some other ground for your measurement.

o Measure the VREF (+5V) with your DVM. It should be 5V +/-3%. If not, get a new DVM/VOM.

It could also be that since it's a non Ford/FRPP TB, it may not meet the all of the Ford specs for a TB. Which, would be no big surprise. In that case, you must *ADAPT* your TPS to work with an OUT OF SPEC TB.

You can not adjust a non-adjustable part. As per Ford's spec, the Stang TPS is non-adjustable.

It sure sounds like you are tapping into the vref wire. Are you using the green and black wires to check the setting? Don't use the orange wire.

yes I am using the green and black wires. Now I have the idle set correctly and am going to check it again.

There must not be any way to set the TPS on a Holley TB. I have tried everything. If anyone has any suggestions feel free to let me know. Thanks.

What kind of reading are you getting now that the idle is reset?
