Shaker 1000 comments, how does it sound

I know its totally subjective, but I havent seen any comments/reviews on the quality of the shaker 1000 sound system, how does it compare to an aftermarket system (ie. however you want to rate)

Anyone know the specs other than just total watts?

I wished automakers would provide a way to use line level outputs to put whatever type of amp and subs, nothing is a standard din anymore.

Well, I have the Shaker 500 and it sounds pretty good for a factory audio system.

Here is what I have found out so far.....both the 500 & 1000 stereo head unit has 120 watts the extra wattage is used to power the subwoofers. The 500 has 6 speakers and the subwoofers are in the front doors. I think the 1000 has more speakers along with a trunk mounted subwoofer and additional amplifiers to drive the trunk subwoofer and additional speakers.

I think the 1000 will sound awesome! The 500 really puts out some great sound (listening to CD's) and has pretty good thump from just the door mounted subwoofers alone.

I checked out an '05 Gt yesterday with the shaker 1000.

It sounds VERY GOOD!

I can't compare it to a Mach 1000 though but it blows away my Mach 460 setup.

If i were to get a '05, i would need the 1000 after hearing it

isn't the 1000 an extra 1250 or so? For that you can get a sick aftermarket system that should blow it out of the water

Yeah but it is nice to be all factory. Just alot cleaner install. And everthing works good together and WARRANTY if you blow'em take it to warranty

I'm new here, but I was wondering the exact same thing about the 1000 series. I cannot wait to get my hands on my '05 Mustang GT, clearcoat black, etc. . I agree with what someone said earlier, having an all stock, thumping system is the way to go. Yes, it's usually more but in the long run if you blow it out or you need some kind of replacement, the installation is much easier and you don't need special mounting brackets/braces to install Mustang ready setups.

I wonder if you can drop in a new head unit with the Shaker 1000? You could get a sick Alpine and it would probably make the system sound even better, just by replacing the deck.

I am really jealous of those of you who will get the 1000.....I just wonder if I can upgrade down the road to the 1000, you probably can.

I just checked out the speakers in my rear deck, they look exactly the the speakers in my 71 Chevelle SS! Not very impressive, but you would not believe how good they sound, I am sure a good aftermarket speaker swap will give me even a little more sound.

Someone else asked about playing WMA in this stereo (I will try and find that link and respond) but last night I burned 3 CD's under the WMA and they play great!

Straight from the showroom, I am very impressed with this cars performance... In fact, I am impressed with the overall car! I have read several posts about comparing it to the Mach1 and so forth. I test drove a Mach1 before buying this car. The 05 is defineately more refined than the Mach1 and I have to say that the power is the same.

I have to answer your question and say yes, the power is as advertised. A little mild modifications will make this car unbelievable. I love the exhaust note, it isn't overly annoying while at idle or casualy driving, but really get on it and it becomes a whole different sound...Ford says that it is due in part, to the design of the plenum.

I don't think you will be disappointed once you GT comes in.

Thanks Mike! Man I am stoked as heck about this car! My brother-in-law and I have been all over this new Mustang since the first pics we got a glance at when at a nearby Ford dealer. The one thing you said that makes me a very happy soon-to-be owner of one of these Pony's was about the overall appeal of the car. Most of the time you get a "Welllll, this could be better, but the power is nice!" kind of answers. Plus, it's hard not to like the old-school styling mixed with next generation engineering. I'm very happy, and more sure of the purchase now. Good to find a place where you can get quick answers to these questions. Thanks again!

1000 sounds great

I just returned from the Innovation Drive at Kentucky Speedway. The GT under the tent had the 1000, and I had the product specialist fire up the stereo so I could compare it against my Kenwood system that currentl y resides in my 98GT. I was very impressed. My system now pushes almost 1000 watts, and the Shaker 1000 really shakes!! Bass response is excellent. Clear highs and mids. All in all, very competative with aftermarket systems. I will be ordering the 1000 on my 2006 GT. Well worth the money. And the best part...it's under warranty from Ford hehe...hope this helps.

Thanks, that was me asking about the WMA.

I assume that the WMA were all CBR 192Kbps (192Kbps is the highest bit rate for CBR under Windows Media Player)? I haven't seen many embedded systems support the higher VBRs nor the lossless (probably because WMA9 codec isn't as popular as WMA7/8 codecs).

I'm glad that it supports WMA since I have about 80GB of WMA (CBR@192Kbps) and I don't think I can handle the idea of having to either re-rip or transcode those to MP3s.

Oh BTW, in case you all were wondering, I believe the speakers for the 1000 system is from a company called Scosche. As for the specifics, I think it's 120W for the head unit, two amps for the 8" subwoofers in the door, and four more amps for the two 10" woofers in the trunk. From what I can tell, Scosche does make excellent speakers. Since I don't have my GT yet, I can't confirm how good the frequency response is from those speakers.

Scosche does make aftermarket parts on which I think they worked with Ford. They do plan on offering a pair of 12" subwoofers to "extend the low frequency response of the factory system". Yeesh...

I am not sure of the settings I used to burn the CD's, I used Microsofts new Media Player 10 to rip the CD's to the computer using their highest settings, and then used the same player to burn the CD's. All I can tell you is at that setting, I could only manage about 10-12 songs per 80 minute disk as compared to about 22-30 I used to get before.

I have the 500, it sounds good for a factory system. I'm pleased with it.
