SHAKER 1000 OR SHAKER 500?????

Yes, 1,000 is worth it

I have the shaker 1000 in my 05 sonic blue and it is worth the price for several reasons.

First, the speaker placement. There are more speakers in the doors, front, back and seats than the 500. So, to replicate the speaker placement will require cutting in your interior. Do you really trust installers to cut your interior?

Second, fit and finish of the consol in the dash it fits period.

Third, crank it up to full volume no vibration/rattle just clean sound but you'll go deaf.

You will spend at least $1,300 if you plan on upgrading and I doubt you could do much better than the 1000

It really all depends on whether you like mellow bass or thumping bass. The Shaker 500 & 1000 have all of the same speakers in the doors and rear deck lid, which are 5 1/2" x 7 1/2" in doors and deck lid, and 8" subwoofers in the doors. The only difference is the two 10" subwoofers in the trunk that you get with the 1000. I personally have the 1000, and love it. So the choice should be based upon what your taste in music is. Later.

i've got 1000

the extra speakers are nice. the thump is good. It could use a bit more highs (tweeters). is it worth the exter $$ well considering how much I paid for the car (xPlan) I figure it wasn't that much overall. I've built pro systems before and the Shaker1000 is about right for the money. to get any better I think it would cost about the same plus your labor. Now if you spent 2600 it would be three times as good. If you are a audiouphile then build a custom system. If you are buying the car for other reasons just make it nice and spend the extra money just so you have it loaded.

no it is not, you could get a damn fine aftermarket system full component speakers powered by an amp and 2 subs powered by an amp with a really nice mp3 headunit.
The shaker is not worth the money. My system would put the old mach 1000 to shame and I spent the same $

I like the 1000 because aftermarket systems are thiefbait. Not many people have use for a facotry system since nowadays it all ties in together.

If you're smart about where you play loud music any wouldbe thief who looks into your car is just going to think it's any old system and not mess with it.

That's worth it's price alone if you ask me. The fact that it sounds great and if you bought new, are getting a 3 year warranty on it ( try that with an aftermarket system ) are just cherries on the Sundae....

My only drawback is the immense bass shakes things like the rear decklid, trunk mat and cardboard, etc.

The sub also takes up half the boot which is why I went for the 500. An associate who has the 1000 thinks it's too loud and thumpy but it depends if you're the type who likes to listen to his own music or believes that he is commissioned to "entertain" the whole street. I'd rather listen to my exhaust.

i have found since the addition of my flowmasters i dont use the radio much at all anyway and after my longtubes and h-pipe go on i will probably use it less.i would go with the shaker 500 and use the $1300 for go fast parts.
