I was coming home from work and my 95 Mustang GT shut off. First off I have a 393ci fuel injected,24lb inj., Trickflow 1 cam Mustang. I check the usual stuff-ignition, mass air, fuel pressure, harmonic balancer, distributor, moisture, proper voltage at ignition coil etc. I replaced the coil to no avail. Previously replaced ignition module, act sensor, rotor. I put a used a 255lph fuel pump but I still have 33psi fuel pressure showing from gauge with vaccum line attached. What would cause it to shut off and not crank up. I tried to list as much without being to lengthy so don't be afraid to ask something I might of checked.

First guess... I'd say it's the PIP/stator/Hall Effect Sensor (whatever you prefer to call it). However, only 33 PSI of fuel and 24lb injectors on a 393 seems pretty frightening; at least to me.

WHen it dies out and cranks only (wont catch), I would want to see if you have spark and injector pulsing.

If spark only is missing, TFI, coil, etc are likely.

If spark and injector pulsing are missing, PIP is likely.

I replaced the ignition module(hall effect, ect.). It just quit running and will not start. I hear the fuel pump priming. I research a thread and someone had similar problem that a realy for the computer or some sort helped him out. I am all out of ideas.

Did you replace the TFI module ... or the PIP?

I bought a new MSD TFI module. It might be my PIP. Come to think about it I bought a used 351w distributor off Ebay(should of got a new one wit lifetime warrantee) and everytime I set the timing and put the spout back in the timing would bounce between 20 and 30 deg. I passed it off as not using my EGR sensor so I buy a EGR simulator made by FORD as what the guy told me and still have bouncing timing problems. Could this used dizzy be my problem.

Tossing parts at it is not the answer.

FWIW, most EGR sim's are only for the CEL and in order to deal with the timing changes for EGR, one needs to turn off the EGR function inside the computer.

I would be doing some testing with the info listed in this thread. On the simple side, if this starts to occur often (gets consistant), one can have the TFI bench tested at the parts store. I would have them do it repeatedly to heat the lil sucker up.

Pulling codes would be my next move.

That was my thread, a relay in the CCRM quit on me. In my case, the fuel pump would NOT prime, so the engine would turn over but not catch.

If the car won't start at all, you're in a better spot than me (believe it or not). In my case, the issue wouldn't happen all the time. So it took forever to track the problem down. In your case, you can test immediately and track the issue down right away.

Fuel pressure should be checked with the vacuum line disconnected, but it won't help you much if the engine's not running.

Follow Hissin50's advice, he won't lead you wrong. Get back to us with your results.

The dizzy was the problem. Come to find out the cam gear was chewed up. I was trying to save money to by a used dizzy but should of bought a new one. So I bought a new one this time with a lifetime warrantee. She fired right up. Thanks every body for the help. Thank goodness for forums or my car would of been pushed off a cliff numerous of times.
