Has anybody done this? I've got all of the parts from Branda, but don't know what I should use to attach them. I was thinking a two part epoxy. Am I nuts?? Also, what prep work should be done on both the steel 1/4 panel and the fiberglass parts prior to install? I did a search earlier and didn't find much.
This may not be what your looking for but here it goes. I can't stand side scoops that don't work, so I made ours work on our '66 coup. I ran the ducting all the way to the backing plate. The scoops are held on the side by three 1/4" bolts with nylon nuts. You could use the glue but it would be hard to service if needed. As you can see, the PO didn't do it right and some rust started. It will all be primed and painted before it's put back together. The 1/4 windows bolt-in, in the up position. They don't roll up and down and come out for track events.
It appears that the side scoop had bolts as well (there are 4 holes in you 1/4 panel). Is this correct? There are no bolts on my scoops. I assume that they had to be bonded on.
The PO used wood screws to hold it on . I am using the 1/4" bolts, one in the rear and two up front about 1" in from the opening on the top and bottom. I don't think bonding it on is a good idea since it may have to come off at some point.
The originals were riveted on. Two rivets on the top, two on the bottom, and one centered on the rear. I used stainless rivets and they came out fine. I had a hard time finding scoops that fit - but I found some from the Mustang Ranch in California that fit perfectly.
