Shelby Drop Question

Currently Im still working on my Granada disc swap and all new front suspension swap on my 67 fastback...Ive researched a lot and most of the shelby drops that Ive read about are on 65-66's, even Bav's website said shelby stopped the practice in 66
There are suspension differences between 65-66's and 67-68's, so would it still be worth is to drill two more holes in my shock towers on my 67 or is it mainly practiced for 65-66's?

there is actually quite a bit of debate on whether or not it actually helps but pretty much everyone i've ever talked to that has done it said it was worth it.

shelby stopped doing the mod in 66 as a cost saving measure. the mod is still effective on the later cars, even though ford revised the suspension geometry on the 67 and later cars.

Just finished the complete suspension, Granada disc brake swap, and shelby drop on my '68 fastback yesterday. The car is back on its wheels, but I still have to plumb in the master cylinder and prop. valve. I asked the same question on here when I started the project, and after listening to the replies, decided to do the shelby drop also. The car sits exactly as I wanted it to after all the work, and I figured doing the shelby drop can only help the handling. Also, since it adds negative camber when the suspension compresses, it gives me more tire clearance when turning too.

There were improvements made for '67, but still leaves room for more. The suspension did not change much through 1970. The Boss 302 chassis handbook recomends lowering the UCA 1" in stage 2 and 1.25" in stage 3. I don't know , but I think that rules then required use of stock control arms which limited how much the UCA could be moved. I re-angled the upper ball joint on my UCAs to allow a lower drop, but I have not decided how much. Most people throw around generic numbers about what is best, but I find it hard to believe that 66 back and 67 up need the same change to the UCA position. I also find it hard to believe that cars with different ride heights need the UCA in the same place. Short of running the numbers through an analyzer, I don't think anyone will know the answer to where the UCA mount needs to be.

There are templates that have been posted here before just remember to use the right one. The 65 66 template is patterned with holes 1" down (maybe 1" 1/2 down) and 1/8 rearward. This doesnt actually shift the new holes rearward but allows them to be drilled stait down because the holes are on a slant. But I think the 67 68 template does not shift rearward because of the suspension differences.

They're Billet Specialties Fastlane wheels. Fronts are 17" x 7" whith 225-45-17 tires, and the rears are 17" x 8" with 255-45-17's.
