last night me and my dad changed the plugs on his 93 lx 5.0. after that we adjusted the timing just a little (so it ran smooth). put a couple vacuum hoses back in place (fairly sure). after this we went down the road and noticed that when you floor it it doesn't go to passing gear. the motor revs but no change in speed torque nothing. today we took all the hoses we replaced off to see if that was it. no change. i read the thread about tv and i just wanted to ask if it sounds like it could be anything else before going out there and and adjusting the tv. so if anyone could help please do like i said it's going throught the gears fast. i'm talking OD at about 10mph no pasing gear it down shifts manually but other then that no. thank you for any help.

an aod has alot of trouble downshifting, i bought my '90 aod new, and it never was the way i wanted it, even after numerous rebuilds.

do not mess w/ the tv pressure, you'll smoke it in a minute.

are you saying you feel a lack of power...check your plug gap and the possibility that all the wires were not snapped on all the way., coil included.

sounds like a spark issue , after changing all that stuff

If it has the original trans, it will be
an AOD/E and therefore electronically
controlled versus having a throttle valve
cable.

Sounds like your OD band may have given up.

One other possibility is that one of the
shift solenoids inside the trans on the
valve body (you have to remove the
pan to get at them) may be sticking,
OR the MLPS (manual lever position sensor) on the shift arm on the outside
of the trans may have gone bad.

You can get some info on these systems
by going to www.tccoa.com, looking in
their tech section, in transmissions,
look at the first 3 articles.
