Was going to pick up a shifter gasket from cobrabob on the site above, along with swapping out my upr blue thunder shifter with an mgw. I've heard nothing but good things about the shifter gaskets and the mgw shifter. My question is, it it worth spending the money on the shifter gasket, as far as the noise reduction?? also, if i'm gonna take off the shifter to install a gasket, i might as well make it worth my while and put a new MGW one on, right? Is the noise reduction from the mgw worth swapping out my blue thunder shifter? i certainly know the shifting is worth it..

No, the gasket is not worth it.

My MGW is QUIETER than my stock shifter was, with no extra gaskets. People who claim the MGW is loud didn't put enough RTV on.

ever driven a mustang with a tri ax shifter? how would you compare the noise to your mgw... . It was so long ago i swapped out shifters, i cant remember how quiet the stocker was... can you even hear your tranny while driving??

I don't think it's worth the $11~ish you pay for it. I mean, it looks like it's made by a backyard mechanic and when I bought one and tried to install, the bolt holes didn't even line up. So I had to re-cut the holes. :notnice:

If you have any thick rubber/gasket material lying around you may as well make your own.

I've got a UPR shifter, and bought a gasket from mustangtuning. It helped a lot... IF you're going to keep the UPR I would say get the gasket. RTV doesn't do anything, but seal the case...

I wouldn't mind having the MGW based on all the reviews, but I wouldn't give up the look I've got...
