shifter knob coming off....help

my shifter knob is starting to come loose, the inser inside it is pretty much shot, is there any way i can secure it without getting a new insert? my neighbor said use locktite, dont really wanna do that though. and if not where can i get a new insert? ( its a hurst shift knob on a pro 5 shifter if that helps)

is it a plastic insert?? i'd spend 30 bucks and go buy a hurst T handle knob, they come with all aluminum inserts for diff. size threads, (metric and SAE) and i love the feel of the T handle, i have em on both my rigs
