I was wanting to get some opinions on differant shifters some of you are running I have been leaning toward MGW or hurst billet need some pros and cons thanks.
My warranty is up so Iam going to start some modding I just ordered intake and tune from breenspeed and considering 410 gears Thanks

I've got a PRO-5.0 shifter coupled with a Hurst Shifter Handle/Knob (chrome handle/white knob) and I just love it. Don't think I have ever missed a shift and you can shift it as hard as you want into the desired gear without overshifting (adjustable stops).

I think I'm about the only one that has a B&M shifter. I can only comment on the one I have.

Pro's - Hella cheap (I got mine on eBay for about $160)
Short throw


Con's - Takes a bit of effort to shift. Definitley takes more muscle than the stocker
Introduces squeak and gear noise into the cabin


Everyone raves about the MGW, but it's pretty pricey at $300.

I felt a Steeda shifter the other day, and it definitely took less effort than my B&M.

I just installed a MGW shifter and the different is night and day

Pros: quality parts, good set of instructions, adjustable throw, adjustable height of shifter

Cons: price $300,

Steeda Tri/Ax here, I have the billet arm and a hurst black ball for that retro look. It's looks really good inside, but I think i'm going to be switching my shifter out this weekend. Haven't decided yet. Just getting tired of the cons (see below).

Pros:
Very positive feeling shifter, you will always know you're in gear won't miss 3rd anymore. You can bang on it all day and it won't break, VERY robust shifter.

Cons:
Clunky and noisier than stock, enough to live with noise wise.

Just checking on this one, but doesn't the S197 have built in stops?

I like my Hurst, but I haven't tried any other shifters to give you a comparative opinion.

I can tell you this: The CHE brace with the torque limiters probably helped more than the shifter itself. Even with the shifter, 3rd gear was a nightmare (while power shifting). With the CHE k-member brace, the car not only feels more solid, but you can power-shift the piss out of it without worrying about missing a gear.

How much noise/vibration does the brace itself introduce into the cabin? These tranny's are somewhat noisey stock.

I settled on the MGW after driving cars with Hurst and Steeda.

I would reccomend MGW to anyone, I love it.

I'm using a UPR "Blue Thunder" shifter base w/ Hurst handle/white knob. Classic look and works beautifully!

Had a Triax, now an MGW. I can't find a single con other than the price, but it's well worth it IMO.
