When I replaced my rear air shocks with Gas A-just in my 66 the rear was sagging. I am not sure weather to get standard leaf, 1.5" lift springs, or..... sell the rear KYB and get some new air shocks??

Any suggestions

Just get the standard leaf or you can upgrade to 4.5 or 5 leaf. No matter what they will lift the rear back to standard ride height....do not put air shocks back on.

mike, I have some extra shackles and helper springs if you want to fix the stance until you can get new springs on.

Something worth remembering is that the shock mounting points on the rear of your car were never intended to support the weight of the car, a shock merely dampens the impact of uneven riding surfaces. It's not uncommon to find stress cracks around the upper mounting point of vehicles which have had air shocks installed. Changing the springs would be the correct method of fixing sagging ride height.

Um, did anybody ask for an oppinion on what is "correct" for a stang to look good or correct?? Last time i checked this thread was about raising the rear end of the vehicle not what some random loser thinks a CLASSIC mustang should look like

Back on to topic, i have heard that the 1 1/2 springs do a nice job of raising the rear. Does any one have a picture of them installed????

Easy man everybody has an opinion. Opinions are like ***holes, everybody has one and most stink. I have the adjustable racing shackles on mine and I like them. I have them on the lower hole so I does raise my end a little. But now I can get bigger meats back there. I also picked mine up on ebay...like most of the stuff for my car lol. I also have the 5 leaf mid eyes so they lower it down a little.

I have the 4 1/2 leafs and they not only put it back to stock height, but raised it also. Groovyash is correct though: a shocks job is to dampen springs. Springs are made to support the car. Using air shocks is o.k. but not if they are a coverup for worn springs. If the air failed and the springs were weak enough, the car would crash down on the axle, fenders,etc... and cause a horrible wreck.

Fireman let me know what you decided to purchase. I'm actually thinking of replacing my springs too. I'm think 5 leaf mid eye. My front sits lower than the rear and I think the 1" drop will work well. I've been looking at the grab a trak kits.

I have the 5 leaf mid eyes on mine. Plus I did the shelby drop and have 1" drop coils.

it sits low enough that I cannot crawl under it, but the rear is a tad bit higher.

The 5 leaf springs made it stiffer, but my only comparison is the stock components that were on the car. The shocks and springs were both original and very worn. I could bottem the car out by hand!

heh.....I'll express my opinion as I see fit, young'un...but I appreciate your input. I do like the 'random loser' part, though

Yeah, that was uncalled for but it's good to see you take the higher road.
