im just trying to decide what shocks/struts to buy and im curious to see the different 60ft times with different ones... i mean, can i use a street shock so i have my drivability but still get some good 60ft's at the track by making up with things like my drag radials and control arms??? if anyone has 60 times with drag radials and control arms... also post up which shocks and struts your using and your time... thanks

jim

Street Radials with stock struts and shocks was 1.91.

9" Slicks with stock stuff was 1.69.

i guess that from the sounds of it tires have alot more to do with your 60ft time than your shocks...

The faster the car the more the suspension affects it. Mine is slower so the suspension hasn't been an issue yet.

25th is right. I wouldn't go too crazy buying parts til the car is really fast. The cars can cut some good short times with the stock stuff. I cut 1.888 with my Cobra and ran 12.53@114MPH on Nitto Drag Radials....leaving at idle. I don't launch my car because I drive it to the track.

I would agree with the above. Get a good quality replacment if ur not making 400+ rwhp. Most aftermarket replacments are pretty equal. You will find more gains in the tires and uca/lca's you choose.

Stock suspension (in good shape) is still good with 400RWHP. My Cobra has that kind of power and I ran in the 12's with stock suspension and 12's with the HPM LCA's and 50/50 Drag Shocks. The only reason I bought that stuff is because I fell for the marketing gimmics out there....the parts didn't help my car.

But...if the stock suspension is old and in poor condition...than it is not going to be good for 400RWHP. My 96 Cobra had 35K when I changed everything. The bushings were like new. The car had NO wheel hop. My 91 notch had 108K when I changed them. The bushings were cracked everywhere. The car had mad wheel hop before.

I would inspect your stuff before you replace it and spend money you might not need to spend.

well i think the shocks and struts are shot because there 19 yrs old(original) and the car rides pretty rough..so i figured if im going to replace those i may as well do the springs and everything all at once...

i found this kit from summit with strange shocks struts, motorsport springs, and hotchkis cc plates for 679:

http://store.summitracing.com/partd...4294925130+400304+4294908331+115&autoview=sku

i think it would suit what i plan on doing pretty well..and the thing i like best is the shocks struts are adjustable so i can still use them somewhat comfortably on the street... would you agree?

If your doing it, go with adjustables, I plan to as mine are shot also. I need a better ride and heard the Stranges were great!
