Short belt question

I'm wanting to run a short belt, can I bypass the p/s, smog, and a/c? If so, what size belt would I need for stock pullies and what size would I need if I get underdrives?

Do any of you drive your car daily with no power steering? How is it?

i dont think the gains u will get are worth losing power steering. plus i heard u only get like 2-3 hp from a short belt.

I read this acticle: http://www.fordmuscle.com/archives/2000/02/shortbelt/beltrouting.jpg they picked up 2 tenths on a stock 5.0.

a tenth=10 hp (general rule of thumb)

i doubt u would get 20hp from a short belt, specially when pullies usually only add like7-12hp. plus having no p/s sucks.

to get the measurement for the belt- take a piece of string and wrap it around your pulleys, make sure the tensioner is up though. as far as no power steering.i took my pump out and i like no power steering. it seemed harsh at first but i dont think i would change it back once i got used to it.
