Well I was thinking of getting a short shifter for my 94, and I was wondering which is the best, or actually more specifically the best bang for the buck. There are the hurst, b&m, tri axe, pro 5.0 etc that everyone talks about, but there are also some no name ones on ebay for like half the price. Is there really that much of a difference?? are the cheaper ones crap?

and example is:

http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8707185523&rd=1&sspagename=STRK:MEWA:IT&rd=1

would that be worth it (being half the price of a name brand) or stay clear??

Also, any other suggestions having to do with this topic would be awesome.

The pro 50 is hard to operate on my brothers t-3650. I hate it.

The steeda on my friends t-5 is awesome. Not too short, but makes shifting so much easier and quicker.

Haven't felt a pro 50 on a t-5 yet though.

i've got a steeda on a TKO, but there's a few things you want to look for:
1: spring loaded for that 2-3 shift, cheapo's won't have it because it costs too much to manufacture. It definatly makes a difference.
2: Shorter ratio. See if they actually give you a ratio, if not, ask them for it, hopefully they can give that to you.
3. Bump stops. I have a TKO, which is pretty stout, but there are bump stop screws so i can't JAM the gear, i JAM the shifter. It just clicks right in with no problem after you set it, and then you can bang gears as hard as you want, and all you ahve to worry about is your shifter coming off.

I've got a UPR Blu thunder.....really good, shortened my throw by a long shot, and was cheap....don't buy that scary looking thing, what ever you do

A good shifter will come in 2 peices, maybe 3....that kit has 579 peices. That shifter should burn in hell.

If $$ is somewhat a concern .... then get a used one. There are people taking them off & selling them quite a bit. Like say, someone is de-modding a car so they can sell it. Look in the classifieds here & there. You'll find a good one. I bought my Steeda Tri-Ax off of a guy on here, and it is absolutely amazing!
