Short/Tall deck Windsors

Just wondering what the difference between the two was other than the deck height.
What was different about the bottom end?
I have a 72 351w with 69 rods, unidentified crank and pistons.
I have pistons for a tall deck W and I'm just checking to make sure they'll work.

I kept looking and found that the short deck(9.48) was made from 69-70. The only difference I could find when looking through pistons was the compression height. The rods were the same.
Can anyone verify this for me?
