When I get back to the states I am looking into swapping shortblocks with the one I have now. I have swapped a few pushrod motors out but never touched a mod motor. What parts would ya’ll recommend changing when I do the swap it’s a stock GT motor going to 302 stroker. I plan on swapping cams to a stage 2 blower cam and valve springs and valve seals. What else would ya’ll change out i.e. timing chain, gears I guess what I am looking for is a parts list that some smart mod motor guys have. I just want the swap to go smoothly without the car sitting in the driveway sitting I have been away long enough I want to drive when I get back thanks All.

If your going to go through all the trouble of swapping out parts *anyway*, why dont you just pick up a 302 longblock with ported heads/cams/springs already installed? You didnt mention heads, but if your going to go through all this and you have the funds you may as well. Would be a pretty stout 2v modular.

Thats A very good point I guess I was thinking about saving some cash for a blower later on but your right I shouldn't half way do something. I was going to have my heads ported locally but now that I am looking the price if I swap out longblocks instead it's a about 500-1000 more Thats using all new parts on a shortblock motor that I can think of and having my heads ported locally since I am looking for a quick swap anyway a longblock probrobly fits what I'm looking for. Any suggestions?I was already talking with Vtengines and MMR about shortblocks has anyone bought a longblock from them before?
