I Have been expecting my new Mustang to be delivered to the dealer last week. The car was at a mixing center after coming off of the train to be loaded onto a carrier to be delivered to my dealer.

The dealer just informed me that the reason it was late was because the car would not start at the mixing center so they ( the people at the mixing center) sent it to be repaired. The dealer told me it has been fixed and is being scheduled for delivery to them tomorrow. The dealer does not know at this point what was wrong but is going to try and find out for me. This is a great dealer by the way, and I have full faith in them.

That being said. How concerned should I be? Has anyone heard of this kind of thing happening before? The dealer said it could have been something very simple like a loose battery connection or something, but that they would do everything they could to get me a full report on what the problem was and they would also take extra time in inspecting the vehicle as they prepped it for me when it arrives. Any Ford people on this forum that could tell me if this kind of thing happens from time to time?

If I'm not mistaken there is a TSB about unusual battery discharge.

Thanks . I hope it is nothing more than a battery issue.

As long as the story is true, I would not worry.

In contrast, I would worry if it was being diverted/delayed for body damage. The shippers run their own body shops, and minor damage gets repaired so quickly, there is no perceptible delay. Any noticeable delay means some real major damage has happened.

My 05 has a battery issue. If the car sits for more than 3 days, it's completely dead. Two days, no problem. Three days of no use, dead. I ran OASIS on it and found the selling dealer filed a claim for dead battery when they had it and replaced it. Obviously they just changed the part instead of fixing the car. There were no TSBs or service messages pertaining to this issue. I'll have to do some diag on it when I get some free time, because it's annoying. Aside from that, my windows don't always do the drop when you open and close the doors, and my radio volume goes up and down when it's on. Ugh.

drained battery

I've had the very same problem with my 05 GT. after being in my garage for 3 different 10 day periods. my battery was completely drained.. so far, I've already gone through 2 batteries and am currently on my third one, since purchasing my 05 on 2/13/05 took the car back to my dealer, and all they did was replace the battery, their service dept. could not determine nor diagnose the cause, or should I say, thats what they claimed.. so after taking the car back the second time, the dealer recommended that either I use a trickle charger, or have them install a battery shut off switch, if the car is not to be used for more than a week, which I feel is absolutely ridiculous...especially for being a 25k+ new car. if anybody has any suggestions, ideas, recommendations who has also experienced similar problems..I'd be extremely greatful for any advice and input...I've also heard that the problem may be the shaker 500 that could be draining the battery..could that also be a possibility ??
