Would adding a computer chip help?

I have an 89 Lx vert. It has a 306, Edlebrock Victor Jr's, E cam, Cobra intake, 73 mm C&L, 65 mm TB, 1.6 Roller rockers, Equal length shorties, Crane Hi fi, 130 amp alt, 24lb inj, Off road H pipe, Flowmasters, Wc t5 with alloy gears 2.95 1st. King Cobra clutch. Electric fan w/ controller. I have been trying to solve a fuel consumption problem. 30 miles to 1/4 tank of gas. It sucks at 3 bucks a gallon. So my question is would chipping the computer solve the problem. I am going to change out the o2 sensors today. and put in a fuel pressure gauge to see what I am set at. Any input would be great. I think the computer is a A9P. The kid I bought this from said it was chipped. I pulled the computer to check and he was wrong.

we have almost the exact same setup, but i have dart heads and the cobra lower is ported, with the stock fuel pump and the stock 2:73 in a auto i got 21mpg, on a recent road trip, and that was 150 miles of twisties, and some racing from a roll with a new edge cobra!!!!, check the o2 sensors first, those cause major probs if not right, also is your mass air calibrated to your injectors?, with the c&l the sample tube for 24 pound should be blue, if it is yellow that tube is for the stockers, the sample tube is only like 30 bucks, and could be the source of your problem
