If they're e7's then i'd say go for it! There are a few very informative tech articles around..

If they are expensive then i wouldn't want to learn on em!

i say go for it.... if you feel you may be in over your head, at least port match, that shouldnt be too hard....

i've been wanting to try and port and polish my e7s myself, i've dont some research asked people....it actually doesnt seem too hard.....it may be confusing on what they say to do, but once you look at the head and look in the ports and stuff you get a feel what it will be like......

Just do it, I took apart my brand new TW heads and gave them a real good cartridge roll blend and polish (especially the exhaust ports) before I installed them. Just be super carefull not to nick the valve seats ( I covered mine with lots of little pieces of 3M blue tape) and then clean the heads up REALLY GOOD (especially the valve guides) before you put the valves and springs back in. You will be pleased!

I would start out with just some simple deburring and gasket matching for practice, but you might only pick up 5hp or so. To see any real gain, you'll have to get into the bowls and all that chit. Like everyone else said, E7s are just about a dime a dozen, so if you're up for a challenge i'd say go for it, but it's not as easy as it seems.

I wanna try porting a set of GT40's... they're cheap enough that I ain't skurred.

Seems like it can't be that hard as long as you do your research and take your time. As long as you don't take too much off...
