Ok,

I think ive had enough with the Black, :(
Its a pain in the ass to keep clean, And It gets dirty within 10 mins,
Fed up with the Swirls, and the Bird Crap that likes to stick to it.

Ive had red cars before, and Loved them, Its actually my fave color anyway,

heres my Black Stang as is now,
mustang_11b.jpg

But I always wanted a red fox :( But this was the car that came up at the time and I "dealt" with the black,

Now that spring is "apparantly" round the corner the term "Paint Job" is on my mind,
I dont mind if the engine bay is black, IMO it looks good black,
But how much of a pain in the ass is a color change?
and what do I do about insurance and title? how do I inform them it "would" be red instead of Black?

Oh, and EVERYONE with Red Stangs you HAVE to post pics!
Need as much pics as poss.

Black is a beautifull color if taken care of. Use a high speed buffer and learn how to use it, it will make your car look so much better. Do you think my color, burgandy, is easy to take car of, of course not. Almost as bad. I have original paint, just buffed out real good, but you should have scene it before.

If you repaint a different color, everyone will know, to do a proper color change not near as easy as a repaint.

i was gonna get you some pics, but Dave just ruined it for most of us (Brian, nice ride too, but i really dig Dave's car).

go hit up cardomain. i looked at every 87-93 (it felt like it anyhow) in there before i did my paint and stuff.
good luck. BTW, i love black stangs. were i to have perfect bodywork, i might have gone for black. but not so and upkeep is a pain, as you know.
BTW, a friend and guy from here has a 67 that is awesome. white car with gloss black engine bay. looks sweet (he just sent me some pics after polishing the gloss black). show car.

good luck and have fun.

Yup Dave Makes us all jealous lol,

And 5.0Droptop has a beauty as well,
I know theres more on the board, So I guess you will have to post them to remind us all lol,

To be honest Black does look good, BUT its such a pain to keep clean,
Shows all the little dents, The swirls, the scraches,
its a shame because it is beautiful, Just a pain,

larrendeuce ill trade but I keep my Engine and Drivetrain and interior :D

Starscream88 - please......i beg of you........don't......paint........it......RED!!!!!!!

j/k. honestly though, only you can answer your question. if you truly desire a red car then go ahead and paint it. just remember that you'll always be able to tell. i personally don't care for red cars, and black happens to be my favorite color for a car, but it's not my car. it's true what you say about the upkeep on black cars, but they also look the best when properly detailed, IMHO. as far as insurance is concerned i'm pretty sure they go by the cars original colour anyhow. my car was originally blue and had been painted black when i got it (wish i could have found an originally black car, oh well) but still registers as a blue car.

black mustang is definitely sweet. I had a red/orange mustang. It changed colors in sunlight. Cops loved the red...so red isn't too good of an idea for someone like me again. Stick with the black and enjoy keeping your stang clean. I'm buying a black notch soon and i can't wait. Black mustangs are beautiful in my opinion.

All those red stangs are nice, but I say leave it black. If you re-paint it red, that is a lot of work and a lot of money. Door jams, engine bay, all that stuff, and if you don't do it right you will be sorry...

If the black was masked off in the engine bay and door jambs etc. it would look okay. I like black engine bays anyways. Alot of things are black so if the jambs and stuff are black with red on the exterior it wouldn't look unnatural. I do agree that color changes should be avoided because it's not the factory color and the doortag doesn't match and you would have to completely dismantle the car and strip the old paint to do a complete color change.

My car is Scarlet Red (2D) and I think someone already posted a pic. It's a blood red color, non-metallic but attractive. If you like bright red there is Laser Red.
