I'm looking for a little help here since I have not run anything lower than 50 series on my Stang. I have a Jaguar I am upgrading to 18,19,or20's. The 18's will fit 45 series but the 19 and 20's need a 255-35 to fit. How do these tires ride on rough roads? I see alot of people running these low profile tire but i don't want to mess up the ride of the jag to much. Thanks in advance.

You shouldnt have to much of a problem. My buddy runs 315-35-17 on his cobra and there isnt a problem with them.

It will be a harder ride than a 50 profile tire, but nothing to bad

I run 245/40/18's in the front and 285/35/18's in the rear and didn't notice any difference in ride quality, except that my handling improved over the 55 series tires that they replaced.

I thought they would ride much stiffer due to the sidewall hight.

It depends on the actual tire. Different brands have different sidewall strenghts.

It also depends on your car's suspension. There are high-end cars today that come OEM with 19" and 20" wheels that feel like riding in a Lincoln with 15" wheels

From a personal perspective, I'd say on an 18" wheel, try to stay with a 40 series or higher. On a 19+, a 35 series should be alright. Keep in mind as someone else mentioned that actual sidewall height varies by manufacturer, especially with a drag radial.

I have 40 series tires on 18's, and I really didn't notice much of a ride difference v.s. the 50/55 series on the ponies.

sidewall also varies based on the width of the tire.
I think that the sidewall (profile) number is a percent of the width of the tire, the
a 225/35/18 will not have the same overall diameter as a 275/35/18.
This is why you see guys running 235/40/18's front and 275/35/18's on their cars. Overall diameter of the tire is roughly the same even though the profile numbers are different.

By the way the tire combo denoted above is what I run on mine. I noticed a little stiffer ride, but that is outweighed greatly by the increased handling ability of the car. It should also be noted that I went from H rated tires to Z rated tires.

The wife has 245/30-20 BfGoodrich KDW's on her G6. They dont ride to bad. Potholes are a little more noticeable but nothing terrible. 35s would of rode a little bit better but the 30s were closer to the factory tire height and I wanted to be sure there wouldnt be any clearance issues when we changed the suspension. A Jaguar on some 20s would look pretty mean!!

Good input thanks.

245-45-18 or 245-40-19 or 245-35-19

I kinda like the 245-40-19

my ride quality went down big time when I put polyurethane bushings and FRPP C springs in my car, regardless of the 60 series tire I run.

I run Nitto 555's on my car. I have 35 series on the front and back. Ride is just fine. I did not notice any difference when I went to the 18's from the 17's. I had 45 series on the 17's.

I want to thank everyone for the input. I just ordered staggered TSW Indy 500 wheels 19x8 and 19x9.5
Yokohama S-Drve tires
Front 245-40-19
Rear 255-40-19
I'll post up pics later in the week when they are on.

Thanks again.

Good choice. Rims bend easily. I keep forgetting that the Jag is a Ford but soon to be a TaTa elephant machine from India.

The 9.5 rears would not fit. So i ended up with 19x8's with 245-40-19's.
