Ok, so today a guy i kinda know came up to me and asked if he wanted to trade his 98 camaro ls1 for my stang. I've never entertained the thought of owning a camaro, but i know ls1's have more power and are faster and my car won't start and he knows that lol, so i dunno what to do.

My stang:
Stock engine(150k)
BBK CAI
Shorty en-equal length headers
Magnaflow exhaust with no cats
Hurst shifter
3.27 gears

His Camaro:
ls1(stock)
102,000
Magnaflow exhuast
Automatic

You can't possibly expect to get an unbiased answer for this from a Mustang forum. We're all here because we chose the Mustang instead of the Camaro.

But, for what it's worth, car vs. car the Camaro is faster, but it's also an automatic which in my book equals boring. I also don't think it'll sound half as good, but that of course is debatable.

the LS-juan is touched by the hand of God... therefore, if you don't go through with this trade you're basically giving God the finger... you don't want to give God the finger do you?

I'm biased...i'm a Ford guy, but i can respect the LS1 for being a badass engine. The generation Camaro it came out in....well, like anything else if you put the right wheels on it and lower it and if it was a stick, then i'd drive it. I wouldn't trade a Mustang for it just because the Mustang is slower though...i'd stick with the car i loved the most and built it up if i wanted it faster.

truly depends what you are after. I have owned both so I will give you my .02.
The camaro will not have that shoe box on wheels feel that makes the fox feel like a monster with only 200hp. The fox has a much larger back seat if that matters to you. I was able to put a childs car seat in the mustang and still have adults occupy both front seats. The camaro also has a trans hump that cuts passenger floor board space in half(once again if that matters to you. The camaro's stock rear end is weak. A modded car will have no problem making soup of the rear diff. Most gm guys upgrade to a ford 9". The extrememly long hood makes it difficult to judge exactly where that curb or stray dog is.

Now for the upsides to the camaro. The ability to turn the rear tires to glue even with an auto is addicting. I personally found evey facet of the vehicle easy to work on and maintain. The interior is more ergonomic. The ride is smooth, steering exrememly responsive, and it handles like its on rails even with stock parts. OBDII cpmpliance is a big plus to me as well.

My dad's got a 2000 T/A ws6 with a 6speed and I have a 1994 z28 auto. They are nicer cars but I really miss the small car with a big engine feel the fox had, the camaro feels more like a sports car should with great handling and good brakes. Auto's are really boring for cruising around in but make it nice for DDing. I'd do it for sure as long as the Camaro looks clean and runs good, even then its a newer car with less miles so why not? If you dont like it you can always sell it and buy another stang!

I had a 2000 and I thought it was the worst car to get in and out of. Also I thought the car had a bulkey, heavy feel. Mine was an auto 4L60E and I had a lot of issues with slipping and shifting into second. Working in the engine bay was a huge PITA. The only thing I miss is the looks and t-tops.
