Should I turn o/d off?

I have an AODE. I always drive with it on, when I turn it off, it feels like I lose power. Do I lose power? or is it just all in my head.

Just to put it in Lamen's terms: Will I do better with o/d on or off during a race? (I know it's not good to be at wot with o/d on in 4th gear)

To my knowledge, all the O/D button does is disable the overdrive gear. I've tried hitting the button at any speed, light or hard acceleration, and there was no difference. If I was in overdrive, the tranny immediately downshifted. I didn't lose any power in any other gear.

Should you never try a top speed test on an AODE mustang then? Because when I have done it before, at WOT it will shift into OD because my 3rd gear has run out. Or by not going in WOT mean you need to back off for the shift, then get back in it? Any clarification would be appreciated. Thanks.

I would not want to use OD at WOT period. I drive around with it off till i get on the highway, etc.

Some of the guys at TCCoA are thinking of making and selling a box which would default the trans to have OD off upon start-up (first thing many guys do when they start the car is turn OD off).

That is just how I drive (I have 3.55's, so I am good till around 45 mph, which is ~2200 RPM or so, IIRC).
I dont like to rev higher than that for a sustained period (but allowing it to be in OD at that point causes lugging around at 1500 RPM or less, which sucks).
