shuttering problem

So my car shutters when I brake somewhat hard. Now I'm pretty sure that it's warped rotors that would cause such a problem. I am checking on here to see if you guys would think anything else would cause it. It's only when I brake, and it's almost like I can feel the rotors are off slighty, not completely smooth anymore, when I brake.

If that is the case, how hard is it to change rotors? Other than taking off the wheels and calipers, is it all that difficult to get the rotors off, or is it just some nuts and bolts?

I had a slight shuttering and I had to replace my rotos. Took it to Ford and they charged me four cents shy of $300... Now I plan on doing them myself. Sorry, never took them off. I'm pretty sure if you google it, you can find something on it.

once the caliper os off they come right off, no screws or anything theyre floating rotors. the lugs that hold the wheel on hold the rotor in place

Alright, thanks for the help guys. Time to order new Front rotors. I'd get powerslot ones, but I don't think I would need them, I don't do any racing or really hard braking over and over.

Powerslot ones wear out your pads quicker too. Thought the thing is, you never know if you need that extra inch(or whatever it is) with the powerslot ones to prevent an accident.

I guess that makes sense about the wearing of the pads. How often do pads generally last? THe dealership that I got my car from had replaced them, but I have since put on just over 50K miles and wondering if this could be casuing some of the shuttering too.

check your pads and look for uneven wear. that would be an indication of bad pads. if your pads were completely worn down, you would hear a metalic sound when you brake since you would be braking with the metal backing of the pad.

Also check to make sure your pistons and brackets are functioning properly. One of return arms (not sure what to call it) on the bracket is stuck so the pad is wearing unevenly and making brakes really crappy. Good thing braking is primarily done by the front brakes or I would be screwed.

Yeah, I'll have to check for the uneven wear. I figure my pads are still good, I havent heard the god awful sound of metal on metal yet. I've looked at my rotors while rotating my tires and/or changing rims to my 18's and I never thought they were all that smooth before.
