Simco Lunar Instrument Cluster (99-04 GT)

Wouldn't you need a "t" for both the switch and transducer to go in to. The idiot light won't work without a switch.

There isn't a oil pressure idiot light, just the idiot gauge, no?

The existing built-in 20 ohm resistor sets the oil gauge needle to be roughly in the middle (ie, normal). Replacing the switch with a transducer, the transducer provides a range of resistance values including 20 ohms when the pressure is actually normal. As the transducer's resistance value changes with any change in oil pressure, the needle on the gauge will move accordingly.

The problem is that when Ford moved the 20 ohm resistor to inside the gauge mechanicals itself, it became impossible to bypass. I was just commenting that at $200 or $300, it would be nice if Autometer, or now Simco, designed into the oil gauge in their replacement cluster in a way to allow one to optionally bypass the 20 ohm resistor. Unfortunately, instead, they just copied Ford "bad" design.

I know... just wishful thinking...

OMG.. I went to enlarge the cluster and I saw that That damn Horse DOES look like the damn "Danver Broncos logo"....What the heck were they thinkin when they put it on there???? ARG

They were probably thinking if they used the actual Ford Mustang logo, they would have to pay a royalty to Ford. So, they just picked any ol' horse logo that was lying around. So, it a Bronco instead of a Mustang; Mustang owners are probably too dumb to notice. :D
