Simple 4 lug question.

I've been advised before that I should be more worried about my 28-spline axles than the strength of the 4-lug flange. If your car is heavy and you launch hard enough to get in the mid 12's the 28-splines won't last. Just my opinion, I haven't gone that fast on my stock axles.

The statement that 5 lugs are stronger than 4 lugs is a load of BS.

I know a few guys that run 12's or better with stock 4 lug setups on stock axles with no trouble at all.

5 lugs swaps are done for the better brakes of the '94+ Mustangs and so you can have more wheel choices.

I don't buy this statement. Why would 1 ton vehicles and even bigger like your tractor trailer varienty have more lugs then 4. True I don't think that having 4 lugs is a bad thing but they definetally are not stronger then 5 or more lugs. That being said I upgraded my 4 Stud with ARP racing studs. They are much stronger. I to had worries about destroying my 4 stud with slicks on. But I don't worry bout it now.

if you run multipiece wheels most tracks require longer studs anyhow...its worth the extra couple of bucks and while you ar ein there pt on some c clip eliminators cause when/if you do break them stock axles you dont want to be the guy whos wheel and axle ran faster then him..seen it a bunch of times last year at sac....:)

3 or 4 passes one behind the orther one you might have worries, but when was the lst time at the strip you had 3 or 4 passes one behind the orther one without some cooling down time?
