From what I've read, you can just hose the sucker down. I did it once with a power washer as to not "soak" everything. But I did cover my alternator with a plastic bag. I'd also suggest maybe wrapping your COPs with foil or something just to avoid any potential water damage.

Serious questions:

What mix do you guys do? 50/50 (SG & Water)?
Do you just spray, let sit for 5 min, and then hose off? Or do you scrub the SG after spraying?
Spray on warm or cold engine?

Thanks!

I use a 50/50 mix for cleaning the car with. I spray mine down on a warm engine, let set a minute or two, and hose off. Repeat till I get the look I want. I've also done it while running.
If your going to scrub I'd do it on a cool engine so you don't burn yourself.

BTW may or maynot be the pics my bay is a different shade of yellow.

Greased lightning is good stuff, I use that on my rubber floormats. It makes them look brand new. It also fades the sealant on my driveway, now thats powah!

Bumping this old thread instead of starting a redundant 2nd one.

First time cleaning the engine today. Used 50/50 Simple Green and warm water. Put in a spray bottle and sprayed down everything avoiding the alternator and battery terminals. Let sit for about 3 minutes and then ragged everything down as my power washer is at the beach house. Doh!

After I was done with that, I used tire shine on all the rubber and plastic to get a nice shine to it.

Picture does the black no justice. Didn't have my digi cam on hand so I was stuck using my cell cam.

Thanks to this thread for all the good advice.

*EDIT* the washer top looks like butt because I missed it pre-picture. It has since been cleaned.
