If it's a street car, and you ain't shiftin above 6000K, a dual plane usually is best. If i had a carb car, I'd go with the Performer RPM Air Gap.

A single plane will give up more on the bottom end to make more power up top. So ya, unless your spinning above about 6500 you will be better off with a nice dual plane.

Single plane + cubes = who the hell cares, my 357 makes power at 3000rpm and pulls to 7000rpm no problem and takes any car on the street in between. No dual plane intake can pull like that. And below 3000rpms the car can still turn over my 26X10.5" slick at 2000rpm even with my 3.73 gears and a C4 w/3500rpm converter.

An old trick to make that duel plane perform better up top is to remove a notch about 1" deep from the top of that plenum divider.

I only got an 1/8 mile near me and it was at the track about a month ago when it was very hot.It ran a 7.90 N/A but it can do 7.70/60.It only ran that because it was 90* out and over 75% humidity and I was only launching at 3000rpms (I can launch at 3800) and I shifted to soon (6200 instead of 6800).When I get the new cam I should go 7.50/40 N/A.Same night I ran a 125hp shot and went 7.09.It could of went 6.90 but when I opened my hood (I wasn't runing a air cleaner, never again) I had a nice piece of tape in the carb so that was only on 3 1/2 barrels! (I had double side tape on my hood because I was checking hood clearance, just put in a air cleaner space but forgot to remove the tape when I thook the air cleaner off.It didn't cover the whole barrel so thats why I said 3 1/2)

I have a stealth for my 429 very nice intake, and a rpm for my winsor (also very nice intake) but im going to switch to a single on the 351, (top end= more hp)

match your intake to suite your camshaft ( usable rpm range ) if your going up to 6500 rpm then use an rpm intake 15or 2000 rpm to 6500 rpm, most manifacturers will have a list of what works best with there product. rock on
