No offense but I'm not really looking for opinions unless you have owned or own one of the above. I have a 97 cobra with 30k miles. I've added about every mod possible without breaking into the engine. I have planed on selling the car but after a cruise last weekend I decided to keep and continue building it up. The car is basically mint, never sees rain and only gets driven periodically on very nice days.

I've had my mind set on a procharger (10psi) until a guy I just met owns a speed shop. He recommended their twin turbo kit (complete with every thing I need) for about 6k and he'll personally help me install. A twin turbo sounds sick and I've seed the dynos on a 97 around 540wrhp. My only (biggest) concern is that the transmission and lower end of the motor will probably blow out.

The procharger can be bought and install by Dallas mustang for around 5,500 with intercooler. I'm thinking that might be a little easier on the car until I can get around to replacing the rods etc... with forged. What are your experiences? I know the TT kit isn't much more $ but you do get a new k-member (which I wanted anyway) and the torques appears to be unGodly but what about heat, complicity. I'm looking at a weekend install with the procharger vs. 30 days according to Dallas Mustang.

Let me know what you guys/gals know... (PS. My buddy says his TT kit will NOT cause car to fail emission however, Dallas Mustang say any T,TT will cause it to fail...anyone know the real deal?)

Thanks a bunch in advance :)

We don't need to make this decision for you. You said alittle while ago you were thinking about selling the car. Well you must have had a reason and unless you plan to keep the car for a long time don't mod it with a power adder. Because when you sink $6,000 in it then you go to sell it you won't get your money out of it. Anyways as far as your opinions go figure out what you want your goal to be. Will this car be for track use, street use, or what? Do you have gears? We don't know anything about your car except its "mint" and has "every mod possible without breaking into the engine". Just because you have seen a 97 Cobra pushing 540rwhp on turbos doesn't mean you have to push that. You can make anywhere from 400rwhp on 6psi up to 800rwhp on about 20psi. The sky is the limit when you go into a blower. The thing YOU need to figure out is what YOU want. I can give you first hand experience. About a year and a half ago I was looking at getting something like you are talking about. I looked into turbo kits but thought $6,000 was too much to swallow. So I found a good buy on a P1SC ATI procharger kit and bought it. PAID a shop to install it for $1,000 which I could have done in my garage. And here I am with the numbers in my signature and I'm about to sell the supercharger kit for a twin turbo kit. Superchargers just don't cut it for me. I'm sick of the belts slipping, it robbing power, and how long it takes to hit full boost. But if you could tell me some info on your car and what you want your car to be then I could help alot more.

Well, if you go w/ the P-1SC (and you find yourself handy) get the 3 core intercooler and install the kit yourself over a weekend. You'll have to swap out the underdrive pullies for your old stockers. I'd consider getting a crank damper (fluidamper) and possibly an 8 rib belt conversion to eliminate belt slippage. Also make sure you get the computer tuned by someone who knows!

Kit installs easily but takes a little time so save yourself the cash.

Hey man can you explain this more? Right around 5,000rpms I get belt slippage like mad and I would like to get rid of it or make it better.

Monkie there are a couple of guys out there that sell 8 rib belt conversion kits which basically replaces your stock pullies (while not being underdriven). Steeda part# 555-3308-295 works w/ Vortech blowers w/ gen III s/c brackets. I've seen a couple others sellimg them and will pass on when I locate links. You also should check out http://www.reichardracing.com/pulleys.php for 'ultra grip' pulleys (just make sure that this will not eat up your belt due to the spikes). RR also makes conversion kits but you'll have to email or call to inquire about that.

Oh yeah- look into a good aftermarket crank damper!!! (It's cheap insurance). I've been told that Fluidamper has released a new one for 4.6L motors this week.

Dave, what does a aftermarket crank damper do? I've heard of them but never thought about getting one. I have a P1SC like you, so do you know anyone that sells 8 ribs for us? I have a 14psi pulley I believe and I'm only seeing 11psi on the gauge. Some boost is lost because the engine can breathe so well but I know for a fact that my belt is slipping. When I hit 5-6,000rpms my battery light comes on and starts blinking real fast until I shift. I have found this to be my alternator losing power because the belt is slipping on its pulley.
