My uncle got me a bag of slag for sandblasting, its fairly coarse and dont seem to want to work good with my Craftsman sandblaster, keeps clogging and wont come out, Would I have better luck with play sand? This stuff they use at his work to clean concrete off forms and equipment, I just need to removie rust from the undercarriage.

Thanks,
Jim

are you refering to welding slag? if so i wouldnt use it because it is sometimes corrosive, thats the reason that they remove it from the weld in the first place. is actual sandblasting sand that expensive?

You want silica sand, probably in a 60 grit. You can get it at a building supply store (sometimes ACE hardware has it)

MAKE SURE you cover up, and wear a respirator. You don't want to be breathing that crap into your lungs. Eye protection is a must also.

Good luck
