Hey,

I am going to purchase some new rotors and pads for my Cobra and like the look of the slotted and or crossed drilled units. My question is, do they rust in the holes or slots and does that make them look like crap??

Any one with photos, please post.

PS. I do not drive in the winter and try to avoid rain.

Muchos Gracias

No rust. No crack. These are two years old.

even though wythors has had them for 2 years, I've heard that drilled rotors do tend to crack and warp much easier than non-drilled rotors...Unless your car is going to be an all out road race or auto-x car I would just stick with slotted or regular rotors...get some stainless braided brake lines to go with them along with a good brake pad and you'll notice a big difference...

I've heard both good and bad things about cross-drilled/slotted rotors. Most of the time it boils down to if you're road racing the car a lot, or you're just looking for some extra "Bling" in the wheel well, then go for it. Otherwise they're not worth the money and the OEM rotors are just fine.

My OEM's are warped, slight pulsing at speeds over 80mph and hard breaking. So if there coming off, I may just replace them. I have chosen Hawk pads already. I am wondering if they were slotted, would they have warped???

Definately do some research before you drop a butt load of money on rotors. I went with brembo oem rotors, all around, and hawk hps pads, and s.s. lines. Hopefully they will be on next week. The cheapest place I found was tire rack. good luck

if you street drive or 1/4 mile put anything on it you like and can afford. If you road race dont get drilled! I have a set of Brembos drilled and slotted that cracked in half. They dont like high heat. I run my cool down laps and dont touch the brakes and they still broke. Made a loud Tink sound. Most road racers go smooth or slotted. You want more brakes go 14".

Brake rotors

I own a 2001 Cobra Mustang. I drive the car extemely fast on the road and brake at speeds exceeding 140 mph when I can. I am in the process of buying front rotors for the car as well as the pads. I wanted greatly improved stopping distances, but not full race brakes that would eat the rotors. I looked at the Brembo slotted and the Power Slot Cryo rotors. The Brembos are $280.00 per pair and the Power Slot Cryo are $149.00 each or $298.00 per pair. I use Hawk HPS pads and they stop her very fast. The distance is dozens of feet shorter than FF pads when traveling over 100 mph. They are not race pads and will last 1-2 years, depending on how hard you brake. The front pads are only $89.00. They will squeal a bit, but not when you are hard on the brakes. Please look at this link to Tire Rack and talk to a rep or two. Good luck. http://www.tirerack.com/brakes/brak...PowerSlot&model=Cryo-Treated+Rotor&perfCode=S

Ive had the drilled rotors... Personally i dont like the added sound when braking they produced. my next set was a set of regular rotor and good pads. to answer your first question they didnt rust in the holes but they did have stress cracks by the time i replaced them.

I use powerslot rotors which are slotted and vented and look really nice, I used hawk pads with them, and they seem to work really well when you need them most. and they are not too expensive.
Id recommend these to anyone that is not looking to spend tons of money
