slow cobras

ummm.... They are actaully quite fast, the only reason you can pull them is b/c they are more of a hwy racing car. With some 4.30s and a power adder, not to mention the aluminum teksid block that can handle ALOT of HP(the internals tend to go on them) they are quite potent for early DOHC cars

+stock HP is around 300 to the flywheel, but they make it higher up, as do most DOHC cars.

I think they just lack some Torque on the Bottom end of the Revs which is allowing you to beat them from Stoplight to Stoplight, would probably pull better with some gears.

Hmm, funny but theres a guy with a stock longblock one running 11.6s. I dont see any E7, stock cam, stock intake foxs doing that?

The B heads in comparison to the newer Cs and the Machs, were weaker especially all motor, but not slow. Gears, tires and exhaust and welcome to the 12s, easier than a 5.0! They do need a driver mod as the motors need to rev, and need to be driven hard, but when they are they are quick cars.

I really want a 96-98 Cobra to play with. I think low 12s, maybe crack an 11 with one that is 100% street friendly could be done!

They are nothing impressive stock but neither are the 5.0s
My cobra even when it had the original engine setup in it had no problem beating n/a 5.0s, its true though that you have to know how to drive them to their full potential. I just wouldn't knock the car when you have no real experience with them.

They are slow. My fathers a car dealer and we go up to auctions and we drive cars. Well i help myself to them atleast haha. I drove a 96 white cobra convert with 100,000 last thursday. My car feels like it would smoke it. It just didn't have any power, didn't seem like it has the torque. And i tryed to drive a 2007 corvette convert. Couldn't find where the dam key went. Now i figured out its a push button start. GOD DAMN IT! next week for sure though. And the 2005 and up v6's suck. But the v8's are fun. Theres a test track thats pretty long and you can tromp on it. I love auctions haha.

my dd is a 95 mark viii that cobra stole the engine from.lol my lincoln weighs a lil over 4 grand, is an auto, and i have taken many 5.0 stangs with it.. and im talking pulling away from them. however these were at rolls, i have no trac. lock so digs, arent to great for it. it doesnt pull as hard as the mustang, but the hp is there.. like said earlier, good for top end. i think they are pretty quick engines.. for what i have done, which is true dual exhaust, and intake modified.

HP is bragging rights, Torque is what matters. When i drive my car its like a rocket off the line. I tromped on that 96 cobra and it just kinda didn't want to go lol. I can't wait to get my Kenne bell blowzilla supercharger. Only 330 hp but 446 rwTorque. Insane amount of torque. And it comes on at like 2800 rpm? around there. Insane.

you drove a vert, theres no comparison to a coupe. the DOHC motor doesnt have enough low end grunt to lug that porky ass ragtop up to speed quickly. in order to have fun in a cobra you have to wind it ALL the way up.

05 V6 suck? would you say that if one could stay within a car legnth or so of a stock 5.0? pretty solid for a V6 if you ask me!

cobras need the driver mod pretty badly...if you dont beat the ever loving snot out of it, you wont get its full potential. running 13.5@105 in a BONE STOCK 97 coupe is pretty solid if you ask me! give me some 4.10s and sticky tires and i would have been knocking on the door of 12's

oh and FEELING fast and BEING fast are two different things. some trucks FEEL fast because they have alot of torque pushing off the line...HP is what maintains that speed. the cobra doesnt FEEL strong off the line but once you get that 4v cranked up, its bye bye 5.0

I'd never buy a 1994-1998 stang. And the best part of a street stang is 0 - 60. The torque and the way it throws you in your seat. I dont care if your car pulls at 50 plus faster then mine lol. That cobra did not "put you in your seat!" I tromped on that cobra and the start off was horrible. Your right maybe once past 40 its good. But whats the fun in that? And the looks are not even comparable to a fox. Oh and whats another sn 95 on the road. Like there isn't enough the way it is. I want to be the guy that has that sweet mean stang. "No not that one everybody else has" Its rare you see a nice clean fox these days.

Im glad someones on the right page with me, I mean hell everyone here is saying "if you add some gears to it and this and that" hell anythings going to be quicker with that stuff. These cars are "new cobras" they are DOHC and whatever they should be fast from the factory, they should be able to dominate old 5.0s but they cant, cause they suck and everybody knows it, and i dont care about the times people say they saw or times from a damn spec sheet, when youre lined up together times dont mean s***!

Umm they ARE faster and WILL tromp a stock 5.0. What dont you people get about feeling and being faster being different. They feel slower because they have broader torque curves, and more power up top. Either you guys are wording things wrong, or you are clueless as to what these cars are capable of, stock or modded!

The N/A 4.6 DOHC's make good power, but not the torque and their powerband is much higher. Then it is put in a heavier car and kept the gearing the same. Those cars need a gear like no other, and wow do they respond really well to blowers, because they have too much head for their little bottom end.
