Not sure if this is tech or not, but I ordered a catted x pipe from SLP for my eibach sportline lowered 2000 GT. I installed the x pipe and had very little ground clearance because the cats they use are round instead of oval. I would hit bottom going into my garage. I tried adjusting the pipes with no luck. Today I called SLP, talked to one of their engineers, who said they had designed the system using a stock height GT and that they would take it back to engineering to try to revise the problem. And I'm S*** out of luck. I just wanted to let everyone know about this problem before considering this catted X pipe from SLP, as it doesn't say anywhere on their website about not for use on lowered mustangs. So, let this be a warning, and I'd like to know if any other lowered cars have this pipe and are having ground clearance problems. Thanks.

it's not your imagination

The SLP catted X hangs the cats lower than the stock H. If you put the SLP pipe on the ground next to the stock H you'll see that the pipe section that connects to the exhaust manifold is significantly taller than the same section on the stock pipe. I installed the SLP X last weekend. Kind of bummed, because my H&R SS springs are on order.

this is good info. i was (am) planning on getting the slp cat'd x. and later on i was going to lower my gt /w h&r ss springs...

x-firechicken - please post once you've installed your springs and let us know how bad it is.

meajas12 & x-firechicked - you could just pay $70 for the 'race pipes' to remedy the problem.

does anyone have pics to illustrate this problem? maybe a shot of the clearance?

I could pay 70 for the race pipes, but that defeats the purpose in paying the extra money for the cats. I could get oval magnflow cats from Jegs and they would probably work. I put the stock back on for now. I will either cut the front pipes and reweld them shorter so they fit up higher or have a pipe shop make me to pieces of stainless that will fit in place of the cats. I won't pay SLP 70 for race pipes, no way!
