SLP catted X pipe??

any one have trouble with the driver side exhaust mainfolds.. muffler shop counldn't get them to fit and they said that the bolts that were provided wouldn't work.. could'nt find those studs anywhere.. any advice would be great.. its for a 2001 GT 5 spedd..

i just had mine put on 2 days ago..the muffler shop did mention they were having some trouble with one side but im not sure which it was. they ending up doing some welding to get it to fit over the manifold i think.

Holy crap put them on yourself

SLP generally has a very high standard for fit and finish, so if it didn't fit something was wrong.

how are they installing it? is it completely assembled or in pieces. i put mine on piece by piece with no problem.

As far as the headers go I have learned to drill the holes out slightly on the flanges, they are stamped out and can be a little coned from SLP from what I have found. Use the bolts, not those stock studs....

As far as the X pipe never had 1 issue, the SLP stuff fits great, and up till this month was the only brand I have ever installed on a Mod Motor. I did just get some Bassani stuff for a customers 96 Cobra since SLP doesn't offer anything.

yea the guy at the muffler shop was telling me something about the studs.. they didn't have any so i went from store to store looking for some but didn't have any luck.. but tommorrow i'm going to get it on..

When I installed my SLP x-pipe, the driver side studs have shoulders on them, preventing the joint from being completely tight... I tried to use the factory studs, but developed an exhaust leak there. Remove the studs and use the provided bolts... works like a champ, no leaks

i had a problem with that, had to take the studs out of the d/s manifold and grind the little skirts off of them

just got the slp catted x pipe installed.. sounds awsome.. but there is a exhaust leak on the driver side manifold.. used the bolts that came with it and still leaking.. dunno what to do.. shop tried fixing and they couldn't.. any help would be awsome.. thanks again..

I had no problems out of mine, the studs on the drivers side was a pain to get out but everything fit perfect, no problems, no leaks, bolted it up and went. Hopefully you get those problems fixed. By the way I did mine in a gravel driveway on jackstands.

do you think an auto parts store would have the bolts and studs.. for the x pipe..?? my brother has a lot of mechanical experience so he'll give me a hand.. thanks for the help everyone..

You can get the bolts for the X-pipe anywhere....

As far as the leak, is it the header or is it from the EGR tube on the header. That EGR tube can be a bitch, I also do the headers in my shop without a lift on jackstands

You will need a insert in some applications. Mine fit fine with the stock manifolds but when I went to Short tubes I had to get an insert. Sorry about bringing an old post back from the dead, lol I just saw the date, but this is helpful for others to know if the longer bolts/studs do not work.
