SLP exhaust question

Just got a cat back SLP loudmouth system for my 2003 GT. Got it for 200 bucks, stuff looks brand new!! Question is, im going to leave the stock h pipe with the cats on for now. Im going from stock exhaust to the SLP. Is this going to sound ridiculous? I tried listening to clips on you tube, but they all pretty much sound distorted. Are my neighbors going to want to kill me when I leave for the gym at 4AM? Will this setup sound ok with the cats on?

LMIs I assume? They will sound ok with your stock H pipe. They are still going to be loud though. Your neighbors are defiantly not going to like you

LMI's I haven't heard with the stock H, but I had a catted prochamber with them and it wasn't too loud except at WoT. Sounded pretty good down low. And excellent every where except on big downshifts where it gets a little poppy. After the intial turn of the key it shouldn't idle louder than you currently do, just a tiny bit more bass/rumble. Keep it under 1,500 rpm til you get out of the hood in the morning

Have a catted SLP X now and it's WAY louder. Then again I'm blown now as well so I'm sure that doesn't "help".

SLP is IMO the best quality stuff you can get for your Stang at a decent price. Not the best, not the cheapest, but I haven't regretted either SLP purchase unlike so many other "stainless" or rust proof products I've purchased in the past that are now off my car or rusting/spotted to hell on my car.

Look at my sig. Mine isn't all that loud at idle(due to the lt's), and i leave for work at 5:30

Will I have to cut out the stock cat back? I was doing some reading and saw a few places mentioned that it needs to be cut in order to get it out. This sound right?

If your neighbors don't like it with the stock H then put an off road pipe on it and then they will wish you had left it alone and will really be pissed.

Congrats on the new exhaust. I scored an SLP LM II with a pypes X pipe for $120 last summer.

To answer your question, yes you will have to cut the piping to get it out easy. Your going to have to cut it on each side just before where the exhaust goes up and over the rear axel (which is a stupid design in my opinion). However there are a few guys on here who managed to get it off without cutting by snaking the thing out lol.

Worst comes to worst if you end up cutting it you can just use some of the clamps on the new cat back to put it back together if for whatever reason you need to put the stock catback back on. With the x pipe my car sounded like death but in a good way to me lol. I currently have the stock catted h pipe back on there and it sounds nasty above 2k but almost stock at idle. Then again I have the LMIIs which are a little more tame and have more tone the the LM Is.

Thank you!!! Good advice. Since Ill be doing this myself in my garage on jack stands, Ill probably have to cut the exhaust.

Cut that chit up and sell the stock muffs(plenty of people are looking for stockers).
