SLP LMs w/ catted X-pipe??

OK, seems as though there aren't many S197 guys running this setup. So I guess I will change the nature of my question.

My last car (happens to be my first car also) was an LT1 Z28. As you all probably know they do not have a "true-dual" setup like mustangs so we didn't see much in the way of X-pipes around many Camaros. Therefore I am not very familiar with how they affect the sound of the exhaust. I have heard what the LM sounds like through a stock GT midpipe setup and I like it. How will a catted X-pipe affect the way the LM sound? Louder? Higher? More/less drone?

Sorry for the elaborate background and all the questions, I just figure you Mustang veterans will know WAY more than I do and I'm trying to absorb as much of it as I can. You guys rock :SNSign: .

I have heard that the SLPs sound really raspy with a catted-x and an O/R x-pipe. When I heard the sound clip of an O/R h-pipe on brenspeed, that made the de3cision for me. I got the O/R h-pipe and am waiting for the snow to leave to put the pipe on. It sounds loud and mean!

It seems a lot of people that are running LMs go w/ H-pipes.

An H-pipe will give the car a deeper sound? So on that clip at brenspeed an X-pipe would sound ever higher?

An H-pipe will give engine better low end torque but less midrange and high-end power than the X right?

I have the Bassani X-pipe w/ high-flow cats and SLPs. I love the way it sounds, it is definately not high-pitched. When you open up the throttle all the way it screams. I get compliments on it all the time and one guy even told me that it was the best sounding aftermarket exhaust he had ever heard.

Nah, thanks for the offer though, but it sounds like it would be more trouble than its worth.

I'm just glad to hear that it sounds good because as soon as I started researching exhausts that was the first combo that came to mind.

Does it drone real bad though? How loud is it? Did you feel a noticeable power gain with the setup?

The drone is about the same as it would be with just the SLPs which I beilive is around 2k RPMs. The drone doesn't bother me though, it is a muscle car, who cares. After putting on the x-pipes the car definately feels like it has some more torque and it pulls in 3rd a little bit better. One word of warning though, it is a really loud setup. To give you an idea, when I start my car next to my friends Jeep or one of my neighbor's Honda their car alarms will go off, lol. People will definately hear you coming before you can be seen.

Did the X-pipe make the car louder? Some people say that X-pipes mellow/quiet the car, but I always figured that it would make the car louder...

PS, thanks for the loudness warning but my '94 Z28 did the exact same thing and I loved it :nice:

What are you guys talking about when it comes to - Pypes O/R h-pipe for loudness....

where is this product at that you bought?

Also, what did this go together with on the SLP, SLP Long tube headers or slp xpipew/cats, or the mufflers etc...????

I'm trying to figure out the system here that you put together, sorry i'm illiterate when it comes to some of this stuff, still learning. I'm trying to put together exactly what you actually did to your car.

oh wait, nevermind. I think I know what that means.

When you say O/R H-pipe. Your saying... Off - Road H-pipe. If I'm wrong, correct me, thanks.

yes you are correct.

i am currently running the pypes off road x pipe with no cats and SLP Loudmouths

it is really really loud, my friends said they heard me from over 7 blocks away.

the x pipe is 179 from brenspeed>>>> http://www.brenspeed.com/mustang_2005/midpipes.html
