just ordered my slp race pipes from mustangtuning to replace my cats on my x pipe! is there going to be that much of a difference sound wise or performance wise?

yeah i wasnt expecting that much performance wise, but i was hoping it would push up the exhaust sound louder. hopefully sometime this week i can go jack the car up & swap out the cats. i wont have to take apart the whole x pipe off to get the cats off will i? i was hoping id just have to loosen up the clamps & the cats would slide out...

You will need to disconnect the x pipe to get it done in a reasonable amount of time. It will be twice as loud so hope thats what you wanted.
definitely what i am wanting. i wasnt too sure if swapping out the hi flo cats would make that much of a difference, but if its going to be twice as loud i might love it!!! taking off the entire x pipe shouldnt be that bad should it? i was pretty pissed off when i got my midpipe b/c i watched the guy do it all and it didnt look that bad at all...100 bucks down the drain!
when I took off my midpipe, I had to remove the passenger side o2 sensor when it entered the pipe (not just disconnect it), so I cut off a small peice of the clip to get a 22mm star sided wrench over it, broke it loose.. then unscrewed it by twisting the wire over and over... then I used a 18mm socket, swivel, 16" of extension and a breaker bar (for ease, I did it with a regular socket wrench later for the other side).
the 4 on the midpipes are easy (mine was rusted tho, so that was a pita)
once all the bolts are off, you push the catback back a bit, and pull the exhaust down.. give it a little shake. the gasket on the passenger side fell off for me - so make sure you put it back on right if it does.

rusted? i already have a new midpipe which is only about a year old so i just have to worry about taking off two cats instead of the stock 4. i was looking under my car today though to get a feel of what all i would have to loosen & it doesnt seem that bad. hopefully i can slide out the cats w/o having to take off the whole x pipe, but if i cant it wont be that big of a deal to me. buuuut i am looking foward to how it will sound swapping the hi flows out w/ just straight pipes!

this will be a lot easier if:
1. You have a friend helping
2. The higher off the ground you can get the car, the better. ie, use a lift if possible.
Its all about getting enough leverage on those cats, bc they arent just going to slide right out. Hence if using a lift, you're able to get a lot more leverage on the cats to pull them out. Use some PB Blaster if possible.
