I have a working AC in my car, but I always turn it off when I am stuck in traffic in order to avoid boiling. I have seen on some mercedes SL from 70's that they have a tiny electric fan mounted behind the star in the grille to cool the AC radiator, so I have the same idea..

So I imagine a 6" electric fan to mount on the AC radiator and connect to a fan controller and AC. Where can I get a 6" fan?

I found something on Ebay, all I have is the link, since Ebay is blocked at work

Another option would be to use a bank of computer fans...or a bigger better AC radiator. Good luck, send pics if you figure things out.

The purpose of the fan is to blow air across the condensor. Without any airflow, there is no heat tranfer and the a/c will blow warm air. If your car is running hot with the a/c on, this will not fix that.

Iskwezm is right...if you notice on most new cars the electric fan kicks on when the AC is turned on. I wired mine the same way...its on a thermostat as well and runs when the AC is on or when it hits 190 degrees.

Correct however a small fan on the condeser wouldn't hurt the performance of your AC system in traffic. Its more of an extra but if you drive in bumper to bumper it would be a good extra to have.

How about a clutch fan with an overdrive pulley (turn the fan faster at idle)?
