The manifold was mostly fabricated by Ray, i did some cutting and some really nice smoothing, but he hacked it up again, now I have to go back and clean up his nasty welds... again. Can you imagine what his TIG welidng will look like?! :bang: :rlaugh: <-- that smilie was just for you, Ray

Im expecting to dyno around 260-270rwhp, 300-320rwtq depending on the tune. Water/alcohol injection will be hooked up to keep intake tmps down and aid against pre-detonation.

Im hoping to be in the high 13s for the 1/4, if not, maybe itll be time for cams, cleaned up exhaust (JBA headers, perhaps?), low compression pistons, stage 3 heads long way down the road. Shyt, us SOHC guys never had this stuff available until the '05 V6 Mustang came out, Supersix Motorsports provides the parts.

The fabricated parts will be powdercoated gun metal, should look pretty sick. Until then, buy a plastic keyboard guard, I know some members on here (wont mention names) get off to this sort of stuff quite easy. :)

The gauges will be mounted where an overhead console would be if the truck had one, between the drivers and passengers visors. Too many people have the A pillar mounts, Im going for something different.

The blower is an Eaton M112 from a Lightning, a smart guy with a keen eye would have noticed Im missing the bypass valve actuator (nevermind, I should have know there isnt anybody that follows those lines), its still waiting to be installed. Not to whoever sells a blower: Dont take off the bypass valve actuator, it makes it hell for the buyer to track a new one down, new or used, Magnuson (Eatons distributor/advertisor, etc) was no help even (could have been if they wanted to). Anyways, $300 off eBay for the blower.

I am Spencer

Rey,

More heat, less metal ;) Just out of curiosity, is that flux core or MIG, tough to tell in the pics.

Seriously though, should surprise a few people as long as you can keep the head gaskets in place. It was always my understanding that was the weak point on the V6's.

Im basically copying a guy on rangerpowersports.com, he has his dynoing at 280/330 with several thousand miles already and has not has head gasket problems yet.

My next worry... I hope the auto tranny holds, Ive been told by Doug Studdard (SCT dealer/Ranger God, also makes custom tunes for customers, theyre all tailored for each ECU model) that the tranny should be good for up to 300rwhp. Doug made the program for the Explorer Express kit also, he knows his stuff. If that goes, Ill throw in a manual Ranger tranny from a like year Ranger, possibly the V6 Mustang tranny, I don tknow if anybody has made the swap yet. I have a tranny cooler coming from the same guy I bought the bypass valve actuator from (both brand new for $100, plus some SC lube), that should help my tranny hold up a bit better.

Oh yeah, almost forgot, no thanks to Wally on this project. I mean, how hard would it be to take out a customers SOHC for diagnostic, put it in first, and see how fast itll go and hold it there till she blows? Would have made our lives a bit easier... but noooo... :Damnit:

JK man:D Have a good one. :nice:

Thats exactly what I was going to do on the Escort...small boost guage in the overhead clock area. I like the stealth look, but cant bring myself to mounting one: who cares how much boost it makes, as long as you win:)

Very true, but should boost be lacking, or have a vacuum leak, its much easier to tell if you have the gauge. Unlike most people, we use gauges to monitor what our engines are doing, not just for the eye candy effect. Just kidding man, but we do :p . A fuel pressure level will be mounted as well, I have it, but a performance shop that I will not mention the name of only had one shipped to their shop today... dunno why, Ill pick the other one up tomorrow, time pending.

An A pillar mount automatically says, "hey, I might have something under my hood!", none of that, Ill let them take a closer look, and if they miss it, its their fault they put themselves up against a sleeper Ranger. *insert neener neener neener icon here*

spencer! shshshshshshshshshshshshshssh.......
Boy, look what you have done now, I leave you without adult supervision for one evening and I wake up to people making fun of my welding and then I look outside and all the neighborhood beaters are peaking in the shop.

Eh, no worries Ray, those "people" you speak of is just me. I mean... theyre nice, yeah some of the best Iv seen, keep up the good work and have a great day. :nice: As for the neighborhood beaters.. well, I guess its time you get that family pet little Ray has always wanted, too bad you might just have to buy a pitbull, cause theyre not very child friendly, although they do make for rather cheap security.

Hmmm, that hood scoop... :) Only problem is, we have the intake set up for the most part, which still wouldnt be so bad, but we'd have to put the scoop real low on the hood to make its guts clear the blower, we already might have to hack at the underside of the hood to make it fit. Jeez man, why couldnt you have showed us that months ago?! :p

Holy cow, is that 3/8 steel plate? Whats that plenum weigh? Your going to need to up the boost just to make up for the added weight.
But seriously, awesome idea. I cant wait to hear how it runs. I love this kind of stuff.
BTW we got a stock M112 and a ported M112 both from lightnings if you know anyone who might be interested.

Excellent. :)

According to a somewhat recent dyno, I put down 283 / 330 with a few boltons. My weight is around 3,500 or slightly below 600 and running 13.3 @ 106 with a few kinks to work out at the line.

I'm guessing that truck is just a tad bit lighter then my brick on wheels. At least, my Dad's ranger is awfully light. I'm thinking you'll be a bit traction limited with the whole weight distribution issue.

Either way, it's always great to see another Ford get faster. It'd be pretty funny I imagine to see my car get waxed by a little 'ole innocent Ranger. :)

We'll work on the bottom plate tomorrow, well, its more of a one man job, so Ray will probably be doing the cutting and welding, Ill oval out the port holes probably. Im going to try get my gauges mounted tomorrow as well, so I know how the truck runs during normal opertaion, so if Im losing fuel pressure, vacuum, or boost, Ill know without having to guess.

Ray, if you thought it was a little dirty before, you should see it now, Sam and I went out for a little bit of urban 4x4. Holy smokes were there a lot of cops out tonight.

The Ranger weighs around 3800lbs, so on the road its over 4000lbs, good thing I weigh a measly 130lbs on a heavy day. Hoping high 13s. Traction should be fine, Ill launch if 4x4, and switch into 2wd once I get get off the line.

My dads red black top 2000 S281SC dynod at 300rwhp over at Wongs off highway 99, which reads low or Saleen over rates there cars severly, it has a pulley upgrade, filter, 3.73s, Accufab TB, and only pulled 13.4, but that was on a hot day with tires that need to be replaced. Should be a little quicker with a good driver and some decent meats, high 12s, perhaps?

No, just got done cutting the old one off and the new one all drilled out, still need to do some portmatching.
Which means ranger comes back apart again.

Yes I'm tired, so be quiet and let me continue sleeping.

P.S. Rachel just reminded me that I have 6 kid's, oh ya and a wife that I have'nt seen this week, so I better go check on them.........O.k. I'm back, they sure are good when they're all asleep.

I like my family best when theyre all asleep, too, or on vacation, we've got a nice house to party at now... shoot, I slipped, please dont tell my parents, Ray!

You just cant wait to get all my junk out of your shop and never have to talk to me again, huh?

Howd the cut go? Did your sideways cutting bandsaw manage to keep it straight tonight? How much did you take off? Cause we could drop it down quite a bit still, I think the new injectors will be arounf 1/4" higher only.
