hey, i got my car all back together and got it timed at 10* btdc. and with the spout out the timing light flashes at 10*, but once i put the spout in the timing light flashes at 30* btdc. is that right? or should it still be flashing at 10*?

That seems a hair high, but in the rough ballpark. I get about 15* advance from installing the SPOUT on the '94, but I dont recall how much the fox bumps it up.

It certainly should not remain at where it was with the SPOUT out. I would have expected closer to 12-15* advance from installing the SPOUT alone.

Once you reconnect the SPOUT, the ECM takes over timing control, which is higher than the base setting of 10° = it's normal. I would check the timing @2500 RPM and see if it goes over 35°.....LUK

hmm my car seems a bit sluggish and this is an interesting point... what is the amount increase in timing i should be looking for with the spout in after setting base timing with the spout out? also, what does it mean if the timing doesn't move much at all? thanks.

I'm not sure, but make sure your distributer isn't a tooth off, this is a common issue, the distributer being a tooth off being able to be adjusted to spec but then it's at the peak of it's adjustment.

well i set my timing today.

14* without the spout and about 24* with the spout.
Seems low...

I also set the TB voltage to .97 any higher and it would idle higher.
And I cleaned the MAF sensor

None.....0 ohms the SPOUT is a bridge/jumper connector...as long as it is protected from getting shorted to other wires/components around, that shouldn't be a problem. In your case, what is the timing problem you have?...

That's the normal "jump" for the system @idle (20°-24°), it goes over that with an increase in RPM's...check it @3200 RPM, it should go near or over 40°. LUK

You're good.. I asked the same questions first time I re-timed my '88. Seems crazy to see it bounce around and run fine when it was running fine at 10* with the spout off huh?
