Like it says i have to go in to get smogged in the next week or so. Im gonna put the stock H back on, and should i back the timing off? Im also gonna put the stock regulator back on. What else should i do?

smog

Cali has the worst smog laws and it sucks, What you need to do is get
some of that good cali gas thats 3.00 gal and get on the freeway and
when you get to the smog shop do not turn it off and let it run until
they smog it.And take any extra weght out of the car so its less on
the rollers. And you might have to put it on the rollers because the last smog guy kept stalling the car trying to put it on them, thats if your car is a 5 speed. Do a good tune up and clean your mas. Check your gas cap because they do that stupid test on that to and they will fail it becuse of that.

Well as for injectors, plugs, and carbon on the cylinders. I just finished my H/C/I about 4 weeks ago. With new 24#ers, and plugs. I know my Anderson isnt a legal intake, but i have my CARB sticker from my old MAC cold air do you think they will just think its a MAC? How savvy are these guys when it comes to CARB #s?

It really depends on the place you go to. Some sleazy looking places wont even ask about CARB#'s unless you fail the sniffer. They really only care if you have cats and other smog equipment. Other places won't even test your car if it has an illegal CAI. Ask around, I'm sure some people know places that are mod-friendly.

find a way to slip him a 20

anyways, u might have to put the stock intake back on (ie aftermarket cold air intakes are not accepted at TEST ONLY PLACES). This is true, trust me. If u don't pass u should get a free re-test, just make sure you find a good coupon!!!!

This is not really true. I was at a test only place today as a matter of fact and the guy smogged my car with a blower, CAI and all. He also smogged my truck with no muffler and dumps way underneath. I repeat, this was at a test only spot. Put the stock H on and back the timing off to 8*. Youll be fine.

dunno then, maybe my brother just got a crappy tester

I'm also in SoCal, and I cen definitely say that each shop is different. It all depends on how diligent they are in checking the equiptment. The guy I went to just checked for a few things in the engine compartment, ignored my Aeromotive FPR and passed me. :D

I personally feel that the visual inspection is crap - as long as the emissions are clean, that's all that should matter.

Yeah im a little worried about my bright red Aeromotive FPR, so im gonna take it off. Doesnt really matter much right as i have it set to 38psi vacuum off with 24#ers which is the stock PSI. lol i hope i get a good station.

I know i dont have to go to a test only. Does that mean i go go whereever i want?

Exactly. You can go to your local mechanic, provided he's got an official smog station. Or if he's cool, perhaps he can recommend a test-only station that doesn't care about the visual inspection. That's how I found the station I've been going to.

The station is in the Mar Vista/Venice area in SoCal - if there's anyone on the board that lives near there, I'll post the location.

probably shouldnt post it on the board. If some one wants to know you should PM them with it.

Simple go to a place where you can give the guy a tip. Alot cheaper then all that stuff you are planning. :)

<-- car passed without cats, smog pump, egr, window tint to dark etc. All about finding right place.
