Remember Pete - the egr on efi cars does not inject exhaust gas at wide open throttle. For max power/torque you want to maximize oxygen/fuel in the chamber. The benefits of egr (reduced emissions/increased fuel mileage) come from being able to tolerate a leaner fuel mixture at part throttle/light load/cruise conditions. With a carb - I wouldn't bother. Back in the 70/early 80's before domestic cars were injected in a big way, egr with carbs didn't work very well. Trying to control the amount and timing of the injection, reduction of fuel introduced, and increasing timing advance with only a vacuum signal and a carb just doesn't work very well.

Sounds like you've done a great job making the car pass even if it's not emissions legal. Shoot for a cold air intake - it'll make the engine more efficient, and allow you to run more timing/less octane with less chance of detonation.

Well, the egr canister uses vacuum to stay open. At WOT, there would be little manifold vacuum so the valve would close. That would work. I could tune the engine for the egr'ed aircharge and tune the powervalves to open at the HG vacuum where the egr valve closes.

But I probably wont bother, I'll just get my snorkel and be happy. I didnt go snorkel originally because I LOVE how clean the enginebay is without them. Just look at my avatar.
