smog pump question

i looked for an answer to the question but cant. I was wondering if I cut the tube to the pump and leave the pump on will it affect anything all it does is blow air right?....

why do you want to cut the tube?you should check the emission laws in you state.

I dont see why it would hurt anything, it would just pump air into the engine bay...you jast have to make sure the exhaust end is plugged.

well i already did it all and i wanna take the pump off and put a shorter belt but if i dont have to take it off and all it does is pump air then i wont mess with it and i already pluged the heads and that stuff

Just unhook the rubber hose from the pump's discharge nozzle.

Water will end up getting in that port and it will cause the pump to seize at some point. If the pump will be there for awhile, get some heater hose and put it on the nozzle and run it up high to someplace safe in the engine bay.
