Smoke coming from dipstick after driving

I have smoke coming from the dipstick and if I pop the little tube that runs from the filler neck to the throttle body, whitish smoke will come from that too? What does this mean. I'm thinking the pcv isn't functioning properly or something. It's also sucking oil into the upper intake. I assume that it's due to the removal of the baffle in the valve covers. Am I going to have to switch to a breather to allow the system or breathe, or do I have one hell of a problem? The car runs great, does not smoke, just the rear main seal leak has gotten a touch worse since the install. Oil pressure drops to 25psi or so at hot idle, but shoots way up as soon as a bit of gas is applied. Car runs great, and has been running great like that for a while. I'm hoping it's just something not functioning properly. Thanks a ton.

First things first, pop the PCV valve out and make sure it is not blocked...also do this to the screen. If that seems fine then you need to do a compression test. Smoke in the crank case is blow-by. If the PCV valve is working, then you could have damaged piston rings, or possibly a hole in a piston.

But start off by replacing/checking the PCV valve and screen.

Hmm, I wouldn't think it would be a piston problem because less than 2 months ago I had the top half of the motor apart and everything looked great. Who knows though. I'll look into the pcv valve and screen though. The intake sat for quite a while and could have picked up some trash.

Like Fett said check out the PCV system. Personally if you can't remember the last time it was changed then I would get a new grommet, screen and valve. You can get them from Ford or from places like 50resto.

If the PCV system isn't working properly then the normal pressures that build up in the crankcase while the engine is running have no where to go except out the dipstick tube and out the TB/VC hose. The lack of oil baffle in the VC shouldn't cause any smoke to come out but can cause oil to be sucked into the TB and intake.

If you replace the PCV system components and you still have a problem I would do a compression and leak down test to make sure that there isn't a problem with a cylinder not sealing like it should. It will help point out the problem.

look at the pcv hose and the tb/vc hose. If there is oil in these hoses, then that is likely how the oil is getting into the intake manifold.

Start brainstorming ideas for installing a baffle on the valve cover. Be creative and you will come up with a way to clear the rocker arms.
There is no good reason not to have a baffle.

Fumes from the crankcase is expected, that is what the pcv system is for. The pcv reclaims and burns these fumes instead of releasing them to the atmosphere.

I guess that I would worry more about the oil in the intake.
