Hey guys im wondering if i should tint/smoke my lx tails on my car. I've already done a search and i could only find pics of SN95's with smoked tails. I would like to see what lx tails would look like smoked. Like i said, i like the tinted look, but not sure that it would look good on my car.
I have a 89 dark metallic blue vert. It has a white top, interior, and wheels. Im thinking smoked tails may look out of place?
What do you guys think? I would appreciate if anyone could post pics some smoked lx tails! No SN95's! I have already looked at all of those.
thanks!

mine arent smoked, they're clear lx's, but this might give you a little better idea of how they'd look....

on a side note, where'd you get the white interior? i thought only 7-UP's came with them??

The stang is the only car I have with a guaranteed spot in the garage. The wifes DD gets kicked to the curb on a regular basis.

i didnt realize that the smoked lenses were that dark! i'd be worried about cops pulling you over for them. i'm already worried about that with my clears, but i don't think a lot of cops know they're illegal. i'm sure most cops could figure out that the black tailights are not DOT approved. it's just yet ANOTHER reason for the cops to pull you over... as if we need it....

My cousin had an '89 GT convertible with a white interior. The car was black with a black top (might have been replaced).

My 89 came with it from the factory i guess. When i said white interior, i meant white leather seats.

heres my tails.... LED bulbs throughout (a near MUST HAVE with these). custom mounted an LED strip in the 3rd brake lense and tinted that as well. So far ... no run ins with the law :knock on wood:

This was the day my car was brought home from the body shop after full exterior resto. (old 4 lug setup blah blah)

ah yes,... LED's - i don't know if you knew this or not, but you'll have to buy LED's for those lenses for sure. i had to buy some for my clears, so you'll definitely need some with smoked. they cost me like $15 a bulb, and i think i needed 4. just something to consider if cost is an issue...

another thing that i worry about quite a bit (yeah i'm paranoid) is that if you get rear-ended (i picture this all the time happening to me from an 80 year old blind sack of dust), you could really get screwed by the police and insurance. if you have illegal tails and some old bag says she didnt see you.... good luck!

I like both looks. I would say clear tails on a dark colored car looks better. I had a set on my blue 88 Gt and liked them, until they were stolen off my car.

The smoked lights look good on all colored cars. I have sprayed stock tails with the tint and it comes out perfect. Spray it on evenly and mask off all around the tails. It will look real nice
