SN95 brakes bolt right up to 87-93 8.8??

I think Im going to ditch the jerry rigged Lincoln rear brakes I have and go to something more finished and professional. Do the SN95 brakes bolt right onto an 87-93 rearend. I know the sn95's have longer rearends so will any of this affect the offset or anything by going to a shorter rearend, or should I be fine. I'm not in the mood to spend big on the back brakes so I just want the sn95 stuff. Thanks, Scot Rod

What axles are you running?

I just did a rear cobra swap using ranger axles with North Cobra brackets.... went in smooth as silk..

I'm using the standard 5 lug stuff: Superior forged axles, and lincoln rotors, calipers, and pads.

Yep, as I figured, its all a different offset. Well, I found a link for a site that sells special brackets to adapt 94+ brakes to stock length axles. I thing I'll do this. I'll just get the brakes from the parts store, and get the brackets for $120 to do the swap. Shoulda done this in the beginning!!

Sorry your Lincoln setup is not working for you. It must be something with the brackets, as mine has worked great for over a year, except for some moaning in reverse when cold.

If you are going with the North Racecars brackets, and buy the calipers local, look into the Cobra rotor ones. The brackets are the same price for the vented Cobra rotors vs the solid base ones. Plus you would still need the caliper brackets.

The Mark really is a great budget setup..... if it works right. I got the whole thing, calipers, brackets, axles etc with new rotors about for the price of the NC brackets!

So your saying get cobra rotors and calipers instead? That would cost a lot more though.

The www.NorthRacecars.com brackets are the same price for the base SN95 and the Cobra rotors. The calipers are the same for both. The rotors are what costs more, but not a whole lot. They also sell the whole kit with brackets, calipers, rotors and such. http://www.northracecars.com/catalog/brakes/brakes.htm

Just something to consider. The Cobras are a bit bigger then the Lincoln ones plus they are vented like the Lincoln.

What kind of driving will you be doing, Cobra brakes would kinda be overkill on the street. You'd be fine with a Mark VII rear brake setup if you are going 5-lug.

I've got some '94 Cobra Rear rotors that I've been trying to sell, seems like no one wants them, they are nearly new!

the only difference between the CObra rears and the regular GT/6er

Calipers --- SAME Cobra,GT,v6er
Rotor---different(duh)
Brackets---different, but same price from NCraceparts
Caliper mounting brackets----different but the stock GT/V6ers can be ground a bit to work with the Cobra stuff
Pads--different, Cobra pads are thinner.

So if I go to buy the calipers from the parts store, its just going to be that center section, and then I still have to score that bracket that goes around the caliper? I think I'm just going to stick with the GT stuff since Im not a track racer. If I can just get a good deal on calipers and caliper brackets I can just buy the rotors and pads new, and that bracket kit. I could do it all for under 300 probably.
