SN95 gears

I ordered a new set of 3:55 gears for the SN95 GT. Listed part number was M-4209-88355. when they arrived the new set was much larger and wont fit. Can anyone tell me what I have. To my knowledge the rear axle is original and other 8.8 parts I have bought fit. Got another set coming but not so sure they are correct.

Those are the correct 3.55 8.8 ring gear and pinion.

honestly, it’s your existing gearset that looks wrong. You sure you don’t have a 7.5” rear?

Really not sure of anything. Car is a late 1994 SN95 GT 5.0.. the parts book list it as having an 8.8. As far as I am aware it is the original diff. I have bought axles and bearings, carrier bearings and LSD clutch pack which are right for an 8.8. The only thing that doesn't fit is the gears.

It has been suggested the gears supplied are super 8.8 for a 2015 on Mustang. I have another set coming so will see what turns up.

The part number is correct for an 86-14 mustang 8.8

Ford Racing M-4209-88355 is 86-14

Ford Racing M-4209-88355-A is 15+

What is the lenght of your pinion? I have one I can measure in a bit and at least let you know what the proper length should be.

In the future, if you click on the pictures you attach to can add them directly into the post. That makes them much larger and clearer and easier to see. I’m just having trouble looking at your pics to ID as they are a little small and blurry.

Since it appears your pinions are dramatically different in lenght, maybe this will help. You can measure against what you have.

I had a few sets of gears so I measured a couple. I measured from bottom face of pinion gear to end of threads

3.27’s were 6 1/8” or so

2.73’s were about 2 1/4” long
