SN95+ Seat belts in Fox vert

After searching I see some people have upgraded to SN95+ seat belts, has anybody done it in a convertible and what did it involve doing?

I'm converting to to black and want to get rid of the chrome and have a more modern look.

They will work, but it's a slight PITA. The alignment tabs are in different locations, so you will have to bend and rebend the tabs to seat the belt properly. The angle they sit it is also vital. If they angle is off, they will not lock up at all.

Could you post links to the threads you found on this? I haven't heard of anyone doing this, sounds interesting though. I will probably get some SN95 seats for my for my car and was wondering if the older looking style fox seatbelts would look weird with them.

Don't have links offhand. This was done in my previous research when i wanted to put some cheaper Sn95 belts in during my black interior conversion.


The only year black belts that directly bolt in with zero mods are 1990 seat belts. 1991 and up will require the alignment tab modification.

I just ended up getting 1990 belts.

I have sn95 seats and fox seat belts. Other than my interior being black and the belts being grey it looks ok to me. I know my cars dirty in this pic lol

Thanks for the help guys - I'll give it a shot and see. I'm assuming that you mean the alignment tabs in the roll part so when it gets pulled fast it locks up.

Worth a shot.

Not a bad idea, then I can get the rear seat belts too. Anybody know offhand how long the convertible seat belts are?

I was gonna ask you what year stang those were out of but I checked your other thread and saw they're 2002 seats. Nice.

Update: I received and installed the seat belt from www.GotBelts.com, on the driver side.

I didn't realize it, but the kit only comes with 1 seat belt. So I just ordered a 2nd kit, for the passenger side.

It fit quite well. However, the buckle loop is too small to buckle to the seat bolt. It looks like it would probably be okay to use a dremel to widen the buckle loop hole a little bit, to get it to fit. However, I decided to simply use the bolt in the tranny tunnel.

It retracts quickly, and it snaps into rigidity when I pull hard on the belt.

Cool - thanks for the update. Haven't made any moves yet...need to wait for the next paycheck, or maybe the one after that

You're welcome.

This belt is so much better than my stock, flopping, loose, slow-to-non-retracting, non-locking belt.

I highly recommend it.

I also recommend getting the optional hardware installation kit, because it's only $7, even though you can probably re-use all of the stock bolts.

Has anyone put in seats from the early sn-95 mustangs, i've only seen the later sn-95 seats.
