Snapped intake bolt!

Quick Background: I just got a ported and polished Edelbrock Performer 5.0 Intake, BBK 65mm TB and Spacer, BBK Longtubes and off road H - Pipe from a buddy for 500 bucks and my stock 'Kiss Me''Kiss Me''Kiss Me''Kiss Me'...

Problem: Intake has a snapped bolt (upper to lower)which he ran with and had no problems but I dislike.

I bought an Easy Out tool and everything seemed fine until it snapped in the hole I drilled. Now I have the Easy out stuck in the bolt, which is stuck in the intake!! and everything is flush so I can't try to get a grip on it.... Now I can't seem to drill another hole cause the Easy Out is too hard...

I'm broke after the 500 dollars, but it was an offer I couldn't refuse... so what should I do??

Is the intake on the car?

If not I would find a machine shop and see how much it would cost to have them take the bolt out. I wouldn't think that it would be that much maybe $30-$50. That is the only idea I have. Wish I had one that didn't involve more cash but at this point I think thats about all you can do.

The intake is still currently off the car...

uhh the easy out should twist out... if not i dont know what to tell you... i would take it to a machine shop and not cause further damage because the intake and stuff are aluminum

Looks like I'm going to have to dig a little deeper into my already shallow pockets and find a machinist... Thanx for the advice guys

I know how you feel.

I crushed the injector wiring harness when I put my intake on. Talk about a pain trying to find out what was bad.

But like I said take it to a machine shop. They should be able to fix it right up.

If you have ever broken an easy out in a bolt you would know they're almost impossible to get out. This happened to me once and I used a very sharp pointed pin punch and a hammer and was able to chip away and break up the easy out inside the drilled hole. A machine shop is definitly a great suggestion if you are lacking tools or experience in this area. The aluminum is very soft and easily damaged. Good luck!!

You may just end out having to drill it out and put a helacoil in.

yep, happened to one of my friends...he used an air hammer to get the easy out off and than drilled it out and used a helicoil. but his bolt snapped off in the block on the bottom side of the timing chain cover.

I'm thinking of just running it without the bolt for now until I can get some ca$h.. since the previous owner ran it with only 4 of the 6 bolts and had no problems. What IS a helacoil neways?
