Everett, Ma
i was gonna buy all 4, but im wondering if i could get away with just 2 in the back and save some loot.

i just want to be able to get through a couple of inches max. snow storms, im calling in sick.

thoughts?

I'd go with 4, definately.

You can pretty much drive through anything with all 4 snowed out.

Maybe the old guys that drove in the 70's (before front wheel drive was common) can elaborate, but I think you need all 4 for the car to handle correctly.

IF you had to only do 2 for money reasons until you could afford the other 2 I would suggest the front 2.

Why you ask? Simple, if you can't get going (unless you're sliding backwards) you're only a harm to yourself. If you can't steer or stop (most braking is done in the front) you're a danger to every one.

Honestly though 4 Blizzaks can be had for well under 500 bones including mounting.

Just get some chains :nice:

ha.

nah, id rather walk.

i went with the 4. i got 4 closeout continental winterforce contacts, 245/45/17's mounted with an alignment for $490. obviously i didnt buy them for dry weather driving, but so far, they are okay on dry pavement. its a little stiffer, but im also use to stock seasonal tires that were worn out anyways.

i really wanted the dunlop m3s, but i also would have spent double the money. they had no blizzak ws50s, just the ws60s, and they were pretty pricey too. i checked around, town fair tire had the best deal of any of the chains around.

i was gonna buy a set of used rims with snow tires mounted on craigslist, but i havent had much luck searching. they either wanted top dollar for used crap, of nice tires mounted to ghetto steel rims.

i think im gonna keep these as my snow rim/tire set, and next spring, get some 18" saleens with some bf goodrich's.

thanks for the input, gents.

You went to Town Fair on the parkway??

I found that NTB right next door had the best service around. When i got tires this summer, those guys really took care of me just because I had a Mustang.

I actually ordered my tires off tirerack, had them shipped directly to NTB and then i just went down and had them tossed on.

Unsure if i'm gonna buy snows. Really pushing to sell my car now or just trade it in :(

Blizzaks are friking expensive. Worth it but expensive

Um not really... You can find them brand new for under 100 bucks each. The newest model (ZR rated I think) run at about 145 but some Firestone stores will haggle (some will even compete with internet ads) ;)

Currently Available Prices and Sizes

I have one pair with 15k miles on them and they have maybe 60% of the tread my brand new set I just bought do.

So they do last and I think pay for themselves. Besides, even if you go to the 145 a piece route, it's still cheaper and more reliable than a beater (assuming some one else doesn't hit your car)

Of course in the long run it would be cheapest to find a set of V6 16" wheels to throw them on as well assuming you don't have a break upgrade.

no, i went to the one on route 1. i moved to melrose a few months back, so this one was a little closer.

i use to go to NTB, but i was getting bad service the last 2 or 3 times there, and decided i no longer liked the joint.

i also checked out sears, and the kids working there were just a bunch of douchebags, not to mention they must have been full of themselves with their pricing. ridiculously high.

i did some shopping around, TFT seemed to have the best prices, and ive gone there once before and really liked the service.
